In 1978, Jet’s Pizza founder Eugene Jetts was about to buy a new home. But on the way there, his passion for pizza took over. Instead, he signed a lease on a space that would become the first Jet’s location. Along with his brother and partner John, they opened the doors to Jetts Party Shoppe & Pizzeria in Sterling Heights, MI. The pizza world would never be the same. They were about to make history by offering a truly, better pizza. And now, over 40 years later, we’re at the top of the list when it comes to crave and taste. Try an authentic Detroit-Style pizza today. Only at Jet’s.

Every bite is full of flavor Definitely one of the best pizza experiences!
Ordered from Jet’s Pizza and was blown away by the quality, Rich cheese, perfectly baked crust, and generous toppings & Worth every penny.
The store itself was well-lit, and there were several staff members behind the counter, which initially seemed like a good sign. However, this quickly proved deceiving. After waiting a few minutes for assistance, I provided my name to the first team member, who appeared uncertain and began scrambling, asking others for help. A team lead eventually informed me they needed another 10 minutes because the first attempt at my order had been messed up. I pointed out that the site showed my order as ready, but they explained it wasn’t.
Since parking at the plaza is difficult, I was double-parked and decided to wait in my car. About 8–10 minutes later, I returned after finding a spot, only to wait again for assistance. I noticed others being told to wait, too, which seemed to be a recurring theme—though it’s possible they had arrived early. Watching the kitchen operations, it became clear the staff were inexperienced and in need of training. There was a noticeable lack of urgency, and some staff struggled with basic tasks like cutting pizzas. It’s understandable that these are growing pains for a new establishment, but it was frustrating as a customer.
After roughly 20 more minutes, my pizza was finally ready—nearly 53 minutes after I had placed the order. Unfortunately, it wasn’t well-done as requested, and the crust was almost packed without seasoning. When I pointed this out, they offered to cook it further, but I couldn’t wait any longer since I had guests at home eagerly awaiting dinner. To top it off, the pizza lacked the signature crunch that Detroit-style pizzas, like Jet’s, are known for. The crust was also overloaded with romano, which was off-putting.
We’re big fans of Detroit-style pizza, and Jet’s has generally been reliable in satisfying that craving. However, this location has some noticeable issues to address. From my perspective and the experiences of others I observed, improvements in speed, training, and leadership are needed—especially during busy times like Saturday nights. While I received a quick “sorry for the long wait,” the apology didn’t make up for a mediocre pizza and an unnecessarily lengthy process.
I’m hopeful things will improve, and I’ll give them another chance, but this visit left much to be desired.
Restaurant similar to Little Caesars as it’s Togo or Delivery only
