First off anything that comes from Jersey is brilliant.
The staff is rad at this joint
The dude from Ann Arbor Michigan that looks like Jeff Spicoli is a good dude.
Every time I have been there the whole staff has been pleasant.

Gonna echo what other reviews have also said. I have been going to this location for years, so much so that I was on a first name basis with the old owners. Unfortunately, this location (+ Scott’s Valley & Pacific Grove) was bought out by new franchisees and ever since then the quality, service, and atmosphere have gone down astronomically. The lettuce is oftentimes brown, dry, and wilted. The tomatoes are literally falling apart, to the point where employees have to sift through what looks like a several days old bin right as you stand there. The hot sub bread is the bread they didn’t use the day before, hard as a rock. The avocado is brown. All the while, they have continued to raise prices. The service used to be absolutely stellar and while I’ll say there are some employees who still give amazing customer service, it seems as though the new manager (Selah) has wildly changed the overall culture of the store for the worse. I have seen her not only be unprofessional / snarky with customers and rush them down the line only to pull them back for their toppings (and more often than not, get said toppings wrong because everyone in line gets all out of order when they force people to pay before their food is made), but I have also seen and heard her be extremely condescending and just flat out rude to her employees. As a result, the turnover rate of this store has increased ten fold since the management change. I’m not going to tell someone how to operate their store, but I do hope she is aware how much she negatively impacts her team, the customers, and as a result the entire culture and atmosphere of this Jersey Mike’s. Clearly, whoever is meant to be overseeing her work is turning a blind eye to her incompetence. Unfortunately, this has left a bad taste in many Santa Cruz locals’ mouths (myself included). I’d recommend taking your business to Seabright Deli, Beach Hut Deli, or Zoccoli’s instead.

If you want a sub or hoagie, whatever you may call it, I think this is the best place in town. Perfectly toasted and very warm, with lots of meat and cheese for sure. Subway subs don’t even come close to this level of quality. Gotta try it at least once.

We wanted take out and were asked if we wanted drinks and of course we wanted some; however, we can’t drive without lids on our drinks. So they didn’t tell us before paying for our drinks. I pointed it out when I saw the no lids sign that is a nonsensical city ordinance. Anyways, girl working there didn’t even say sorry.

I’ve always been a big fan of Jersey Mike’s, but unfortunately this location has been disappointing lately. Today my sub came with extremely wilted lettuce, next to no onions, and they forgot both the juice and mayo I asked for. On top of that, I was rushed straight from ordering to checkout, with no chance to make sure my sandwich was actually made right. The staff here clearly try to push orders out too fast and take on more than they can handle, which ends up sacrificing quality. Fast doesn’t matter if the food is wrong or looks sloppy. This location really needs to slow down and focus on getting it right, because right now the experience doesn’t live up to the Jersey Mike’s name.

Shout out to the team at this incredible Jersey Mike’s! Our sandwich artists and customer service professionals handled our order with great care and precision. After traveling literally all day they graced us with delicious food and small town service. We are now well equipped for the rest of our journey which will go into the night. They all deserve a raise, and I wish the whole team continued success in their professional endeavors.

I was craving a sandwich on my loop from San Mateo through Big Basin to Santa Cruz and back so glad I stopped here. The girl at the counter ensured everyone got the sandwich they liked, customized to their satisfaction. 5 star service with a smile.

Can’t go wrong with Jersey Mike’s. Food is always good. The indoor seating at this location is not so great. Definitely a smaller location compared to others I have been to. In general much better than other franchise sandwich shops.
