Restaurant was very clean and service was excellent. Friendly and attentive. Food was made fresh and as ordered.
Bread was hearty and full of flavor .. piled high with tasty meats and cheese with fresh vegetables.
Cost is about average.
As always, my food was on point (they never miss!), but it was the amazing attitude and atmosphere that really made my visit stand out. Huge shoutout to this team for making a quick lunch run feel so uplifting!
Earlier, a bystander asked if I was heading in to eat at Cafe Rio, and I stopped dead in my tracks.
“Cafe Rio? No, son,” I curtly replied. “I don’t eat woke food. I’m here to eat the groundbreaking new Hot Italian made by our incredibly talented Jersey mikes employees.”
The man’s two little girls began jumping up and down, pulling on his sleeve, and begging, “Daddy, we want to eat a hot Italian!”
“But. But…” he stammered, “I thought you girls wanted to eat a pork salad?”
“No, no, NO,” they said, now nearly shouting. “We want to eat Jersey Mikes!! It’s the best food EVER.”
Their father was scrambling, stressed out, and disoriented.
“Girls, I’m afraid you aren’t the only ones who are captivated by Eli Manning, Danny Devito, and other corporate celebrities aimed to promote our sandwiches,” I said, kneeling to get on their level. “Virtually everyone in this restaurant is here for the afternoon rush, and it’s been sold out for days.”
Tears began to well up in their eyes.
“But…” I said in a hushed tone, “I happen to have a few extra sandwiches with me, and I’d like you and your dad to have them.”
They jumped for joy and began hugging their father. He looked relieved as he wiped the sweat off his brow with a smile.
I handed him the sandwiches and pulled him close. “Raise these girls right,” I whispered. “Teach them to be classy sandwich consumers of deli meats like 2x Super Bowl winner Eli Manning, don’t let them become like salad eater Tom Brady. Capisce?”
He hugged me and thanked me profusely. “What are you going to do now?” He asked.
“Don’t worry about me, son,” I told him, with a twinkle in my eye. “I’ve already got more sandwiches I bought for tomorrow on the mobile app.”
