I grew up in Houston and this is my favorite place in the whole world for fried catfish. After moving away, I am yet to find a catfish poboy of equal quality, and very few at such a reasonable price.

Was craving crawfish, haven’t ate here in a while due to the long drive. We came in and it was a full house except 1 table that needed to be cleaned. So the lady asked us how many people… we said 2… and waited for them to clean the table… which the man took his good Ole time cleaning, making sure no crumbs on the floor .
We waited at least 10 mins before being seated. Once seated, the man asked us if the server told us it would be 1 1/2 hr wait!!! Thats ridiculous. We saw a lot of people with their food already. But to wait over an hr for crawfish is ridiculous. That means you need to do better and have bigger pots maybe ?
Anyways we left, and will never ever return. Not worth the wait. Plenty of other places. We went down the street to 88 Boiling.

First time going 6-12-25 and I have to say the experience was better than I could’ve imagined. It’s almost as though everyone that worked there was in sync and waited/served us. From the cook, to the server and I believe the owner as well all came to serve us and top off our drinks. Our teas never went below mid cup. Now the crawfish was great sized, we ordered their platter which contained 2lbs of crawfish (spicy spice house special level) with corn and 2 potatoes, the flavor was MONEY! Flavorful, spicy, tangy, juicy and it made me thankful I finally considered making the drive to try it. The rice albeit not a huge portion, but filling none the less. It came with a generous amount of shrimp and had a good home style tasting flavor. The gumbo we got was 8oz but fed both my wife and I. All theses dishes came with half cut French baguettes that were toasted, crunchy/crispy and a tasty smear of garlic butter on it perfectly toasted onto the bread. 13/10 would recommend and go again. All in all the total for our drinks and meal was $50.58. Absolutely fair for the food and portion size we got. I’m happy we got to try it.

A year later, we made the hour drive to once again enjoy one of our favorite spots. Happy to report everything is still as excellent as it’s always been!
We adore this place and the people who work there (and own it, I believe). We are always treated so kindly, almost like family. We were served by Jose this time, I don’t remember him being there in past visits, but he was excellent. My daughter thought he was hilarious! My water nor my husbands tea ever went empty. There was a lady with refills that was ON IT. She also was so so so very nice. Our food can’t be left out either. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the soft shell crab, but the fried catfish my husband got instead was DELICIOUS, crispy, and so well seasoned. My fried crawfish poboy was HEAPING, and wonderful. The show stealer is the side of the crawfish sauce we use for dipping. If you stop in, make sure you get a side!

My family and I stopped by on a Thursday evening, and to our surprise, we were the only ones dining in. Honestly, that shocked me because once I tasted the food, I couldn’t understand why this place isn’t packed every single day. I ordered the catfish platter, and let me tell you it was hands down the best fried catfish I’ve had in a long time. Crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The hushpuppies were on another level too, with just the right amount of kick from the bits of jalapeño inside. This spot is a hidden gem, no doubt about it.

Well seasoned, flavorful food, big crawfish and crab legs. I normally don’t trust the dipping sauce but this dipping sauce was delicious.
The restaurant is not very big but, not super small either. You are greeted as soon as you walk in and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I believe it was the owner who greeted me and took my order. They work the counter and serve the customers, very nice people.
I got 4 pounds of crawfish, crab leg platter, creole fried wings and seasoned fries. There is no sauce choice, they only have one choice but you choose your level of spice and I got medium. The medium was spicy but not over powering. The crawfish was not just seasoned on the outside but the meat was seasoned as well. There was not one mush or overcooked crawfish in the pile as well as the crab legs. The fries were good and they also had a seasoning on top that was good. The fried chicken was delicious…’I love it!!
Overall the food is really good and the service is great! I will return to this spot for crawfish when I feel like driving all the way down Westheimer.

I came here with my boyfriend and his dad for lunch and we ordered the crawfish platter, crab, and seafood gumbo respectively. Since this was our first experience with crawfish, we were a bit lost with how to approach the platter but they were more than happy to teach us how to peel the crawfish. After that, we dug in.
The food was so flavorful and the portions were very generous. By the time I was full, I had only gotten through half of the plate. You can bet that I took the rest to go for dinner! Though my boyfriend was not a super big fan of seafood, this meal definitely changed his mind. The seafood was so fresh and sweet, it was unlike any experience we’ve had anywhere else.
The staff were also constantly checking on us and we noticed that they were even greeting many regulars by name, which contributes to such a welcoming atmosphere! They are the epitome of a mom and pop shop and it is so heartwarming to see.
All in all, we had an amazing experience. We left with our stomachs full and our hearts fuller. We can’t wait for our next meal at Jenivi’s!

Visiting from California, good customer service. I got fried red snapper with Cajun shrimp fried rice and fried corn. The fish was good, just a tad over cooked. The Cajun shrimp fried rice was GOOD! It was some of the best shrimp fried rice I’ve ever had. My sister got the salmon pasta, she liked it. Overall food was good and customer service was great. Only complaint would be the price.
