Service elevated the entire evening. Our waiter managed that fine line of professional competence and warm personality — attentive, approachable, and genuinely fun to interact with. It’s clear the staff here takes pride in the experience as much as the kitchen takes pride in the food.
Jeff Ruby’s isn’t cheap, and it’s not trying to be. But the combination of expertly executed dishes, impeccable service, and the overall atmosphere makes the price feel justified. It’s more than a steakhouse — it’s a full evening out, and one that’s absolutely worth it.
Outstanding experience at Jeff Ruby’s in Lexington, KY! Gerado and Alexis at the bar delivered absolutely phenomenal customer service. They went above and beyond by accommodating a special request for a drink that wasn’t even on the menu—and absolutely nailed it.
Huge shoutout to the entire bartending team for their professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail. The custom drink was a strawberry cheesecake cocktail with a graham cracker crust rim, and it was incredible.
5 out of 5 for our two bartenders. Highly recommend sitting at the bar if you’re here—you won’t be disappointed.
This was our first visit there and it did not disappoint. From the valet service, to the hot towell treatment before the main course, and the general feeling of the staff truly wanting to do their jobs well, it really was an incredible experience.
At many high end restaurants the staff are well trained and polite, but you can tell they are only doing so to get a paycheck. Here though you can tell there’s a real sense of pride in their jobs. The staff wants to do well because they want to reflect the pride of the establishment. That’s not something a Christmas bonus or gift card can buy. That’s love of your job and who they represent.
The food! We tried the Sriracha pork belly, the selection of daily flown in raw oysters, as well as oysters Rockefeller, and the crab bisque. The raw oysters in question were three different species, 2 of each. I forget the specific types but they varied wildly in brineyness and tenderness. The Rockefeller and pork belly were stellar. My wife was a huge fan of the crab bisque, commenting it was luscious and heavenly. She would like to add, though it is labeled an appetizer, it is certainly a single serving
The salads were all top notch as well, but I realize what readers want most and that’s how were the steaks. My wife and I shared the bone in hatchet rib eye. Two of my children, including the birthday girl, had the Aiden filet, and my 3rd child had chicken fingers. Our best friends had the steak Diane, and the delmonico blackened steak. I also ordered a 12oz Australian wagyu sirloin foenthe table to share. This was our first time trying authentic wagyu, and we.were.not disappointed. The meat of all the steaks were different in texture but equal is miraculous flavor and tenderness. My wife’s best friend commented she had never enjoyed a filet you could cut with a butter knife.
As for the sides, the potatoes Anna was a huge hit. Thin slices of potatoe layered on top of one another and baked almost like a tart. It was crisp on the edges, perfectly fluffy inside and had no shortage of butter. It did not survive long. We also had sautéed mushrooms and an incredible Mac and cheese to go with our meal.
The final point was dessert. We called ahead.to have them prepare the Ruby Voiton. A house dessert available no where else. We also sampled the table side bananas foster, and their wild cat cake. My little girl was also given a molten caramel dark chocolate cake cup cake with house butter cream on top. They treated her like a princess for her big day.
As a final note, they printed unique menus celebrating her birthday at the top, just for her and free of charge. My two other sons are autistic and we requested semi private dining, so they wouldn’t disturb other patrons. They placed us in a semi private room to ourselves and we’re incredibly helpful.
All in all including tip we spent a little more than 1,500 dollars. This was a once in a life time treat that was honestly worth every penny. If you have something to celebrate and are.willing to pay top dollar for amazing quality and service, you simply can’t do better
Let’s talk food. That USDA Prime steak might just be the gold standard, seared to perfection with flavor that makes you stop mid-chew and nod. The seafood and sushi selections are equally bold and fresh—the raw bar practically steals the show. And that macaroni and cheese? Food Network called it “most magnificent,” and they weren’t kidding. It’s rich, gooey, loaded with cheese, and maybe the only reason to linger after eating half your steak.
Service is simply impeccable. The team knows the menu inside and out, so they guide you confidently, even when you change your mind mid-order. A bit of live music in the background adds exactly the right note—fun, refined, relaxed.
Locals say reservations are a must, and they’re right. This place books fast, especially on weekends or special nights. But once you’ve got a table, everything just clicks. Everything from valet to the final dessert is thought through, reliable, and delightful.
In a world that rushes, Jeff Ruby’s makes you slow down. It’s not flashy for the sake of flash—it’s confident, classic, and luxurious in the best way. A night here feels meaningful, like stepping into a time when good manners and great food reigned.
Five stars, no question. If you want to eat well, feel well, enjoy well, Jeff Ruby’s is the place.
