I visited in November, and it was honestly the best salmon I’ve had in Norway. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful, and the view was absolutely stunning. All of the staff were very kind, but Maria in particular was amazing. She took care of my table and was incredibly warm and attentive. She even spoke my native language, which made it possible for us to chat comfortably and enjoy the experience even more. Thank you so much.
We ordered the gravlax and the smoked salmon, and it was a choice I have absolutely no regrets about. Everything was truly excellent.

Since it was practically raining all the time when we were in Bergen, the only thing that we really liked to do was to dine. This restaurant was our favorite, we kept on going back to the place whenever a hot meal was desired. We love seafood, so this place hit the sweet spot. Fish and chips are fantastic as well as their chowder. Pricewise, it’s really expensive as our tab is 100 euros per person with just a main course, soft drinks and no alcohol.

This is a strange space – rather than a specific dining area there are lots of small rooms, booths and tables scattered among the fish market counters.
It works, and it’s great to see the fish you ordered being hauled out of a tank or a counter and cooked pretty much right in front of you.
The food is pricey, even by Norwegian standards, but the quality and service is superb, and there’s a huge range of options from basic fish and chips to high end lobster and caviar.
A great options for that special meal in Bergen.
Best to book, especially if you want the best spot, but we just turned up and enjoyed our booth in the main part of the market.

Supper yummy food, friendly and helpful staff, generous portions. What more would you want from a restaurant. I loved the Norwegian chilli muscles and they were able to make it extra spicy on request. Fish soup was so tasty and had lots of fish pieces. Definitely would recommend this place and we will be visiting here if we go again to Bergen.

We had the best meal at Fjellskål Seafood Restaurant in Bergen! The service is top notch and the view is The fish market opens at 9am but the restaurant opens only at 11am. We had the best Fish and Chip of the day and the fish soup with Norwegian beer! We even had the ice cream with caviar for the very first time! Super highly recommended to experience once in a lifetime in Bergen. ❤️

We had two dinners in this restaurant and the fish was just perfectly cocked, the restaurant have a large choice of fresh fish, smoked fish, crustaceans, caviar….
Really nice view on the port, the waitress we had was really nice and friendly.
We recommend you to try this place if you want really good fish 🙂

I was glad that we chose this restaurant for the last dinner of Norway. I only wanted to eat seafood in Norway, and I would like to finish our last dinner with seafood. We made the right choice. It’s a nice seafood restaurant with the Bryggen view. We ordered mussels, shellfish soup, grilled flounder & brown cheese dessert, and all tasted great. Shellfish soup is little salty & thick for us, but it was still good. Service was also great. Only thing, 3 male adult guests on the next table watching the video on their phone pretty loud. (Again, no kids only adults were at the table) I was very annoyed with it since I don’t come from that type of culture. If it’s family restaurant or fast food, I might not care so much, but I didn’t expect this type of customers’ behavior at these restaurants. Any servers, hostess/host didn’t tell them anything. I guess that is acceptable in Norway. Or I should have told our server. Other than that experience, we had a good time.

Been here twice. The quality of food, attention of the staff and atmosphere is excellent! Easiest “YES” to this place!
PS: do not miss out their salmon sashimi, caviar selections, mussels and ice cream with black caviar

This is honestly the best fish and chips I’ve eaten in a very long time. In fact, it was the best cod I’ve ever eaten. It was soft and sweet and cooked perfectly. Definitely highly recommend this.
I also ordered the cheese plate and to be honest it was mediocre. I got the small which was three types of cheese which basically were very similar so felt no variety, excitement or interest for that dish. I wouldn’t order the cheese plate again unless they really mixed up the options!
