First time at JC’s Ristorante in McCook. Regular Thin crust, well done, pepperoni and green pepper. The crust was so good.

Hi, fellow reviewers. I just left this establishment and wanted to write a review while the experience was fresh in my mind. My partner and I spent a total time of 1 hour and a half at this place. The waitress was unprofessional and inattentive. Even after the rush subsided. Gave no recommendations. Didn’t even give us her name. This was my 1st time visiting this business. However, it was a childhood staple for my partner, despite it being a long time since last visiting. Whom stated, “It’s different now,” and how dissatisfied she was. As an appetizer, we ordered the beer battered vegetables. We left half in the basket to be taken away. It was too greasy and made my stomach upset quickly after eating. I ordered the homemade lasagna with a side salad. My partner ordered the capellini amalfitano with a side salad. I received a large plate of lasagna with meat sauce consuming the entire plate (see photo). The side salad had 4 pieces of tomato and iceberg lettuce. The highlight for me was the bread. (See pictures). My partners entrée was overly seasoned with parsley. Also, the excessive diced tomatoes, which really resemble canned diced tomatoes, were a bit much. We chose this place last minute. The smell outside was enticing. However, the meal was highly disappointing. Could’ve been a fluke, but the 40 year old carpeting indicates otherwise.

This is a nice restaurant with huge plates of food. It was my first time here, but the people I came with have eaten at this location as well as the previous location in Crestwood for a few decades. They all love the food here and have their own favorites.
My rating is 3.5/5. This is mostly based on the food.
I ordered:
French onion soup ($7) 4+/5
This was good. It’s one of the better ones I’ve had and it came with a ton of cheese melted on top. That was the best part. The broth was flavorful as well. A lot of French onion soup can turn out too salty, and this was not that. This had a good balance of salt and sweet and savory.
I will definitely order this again.
Be warned: It is very filling because of all the cheese.
pasta & asparagus ($14) 3/5
I love veggies with pasta. My favorite has asparagus, tomatoes, onions with penne in a white wine, garlic, lemon sauce topped with parm. I tried to make that happen, by adding sun dried tomatoes to this dish. I usually love agliolio (garlic olive oil sauce, sometimes with red peppers), but this sauce tasted more like oil and black pepper. I was not expecting the black pepper. Red pepper is common, but I’ve only had black pepper in Cacio e Pepe.
In any case, I took some extra Alfredo cream from my boyfriends dish and started dunking my linguini in it, and that was tasty.
I probably won’t order this again.
Of the other dishes I tasted:
The Alfredo was the best. $13. 5/5.
It’s my boyfriends favorite Alfredo of any restaurant.
His mom also ordered it, but added chicken.
Both are huge dishes and well worth the price.
Regarding the wait staff:
The lady who greeted and seated us was nice.
Our waitress was also nice. The restaurant got slammed and you could see her running all over the place. I hope she was tipped well by other tables, because waitressing is a lot of work.
It was nice to see the owner, Joe, walking around and greeting tables. I love when people take pride in their work/the restaurants they own.
This place has two bars with seating areas and then large spaces filled with tables.
Of note, the restrooms do not have a changing table, just in case you have little ones.
Will I be back? Yes. Will I get the same pasta, no.
I want to try their tiramisu, get my own dish with Alfredo, and that French onion soup.

1st time here and food was soooo good. Owners came. Pizza was on point and my wife ordered chicken alfredo was so good. Owner came out greeted us and she told us that this was their last year operating. If you been curious about the food like me i suggest you try them totally worth it. The portions are big and affordable.

Such a fun night out! The pizza and bread were so good, the atmosphere was great, and Laura took awesome care of us—super friendly and on top of everything. The rest of the staff were just as welcoming, and management made the place feel really inviting. Service was quick, smooth, and honestly just made the whole night easy and enjoyable. Can’t wait to go back!

Man with a gun! Patrons over poured alcohol and belligerent! Yikes!!!
First time customer and last!
Went here with my husband and our 8 year old son. From the moment we walked in the hostess had a snob attitude because we didn’t have reservations. He still sat us down “in the back” as he put it.
Once we were sat down at a table with 2 chairs, my husband had to grab a seat for himself from another table. We immediately noticed strange behavior from all patrons dining at the moment. One woman walking around stumbled catching her fall but spilling her wine all over herself and acting like nothing happened. She was joined by others that spoke so loudly you couldn’t hear your own conversation at the table (video recording attached)
Another table of approximately 15 people was loaded with children screaming because they were being tickled repetitively, running around, and yelling. The parents didn’t care about the children’s poor behavior in a restaurant.
Once dinner arrived, we were about 10 minutes in when we heard and saw two women yelling and then two men wrestling on the ground. At that point I wasn’t going to allow my son to be exposed to such belligerent behavior, got up, and told my family we were leaving. I alerted one of the employees of the fight.
Once up and walking out, one of the men that was fighting unholstered a gun from his waistband. That is when my family and I as well as other children screaming and crying, “HE HAS A GUN!” had found a back door leading to an outside patio. There was a gate that let us out to the parking lot at which time I was calling 911.
Our 8 year old son is now severely impacted by what he witnessed as he expresses how “scary” that frightening experience was for him. I had to explain to him how quick actions save lives and how in more ways than one the man with a gun was wrong. This establishment should also be held accountable for over serving these patrons as they were clearly stumbling and beyond loud!

I came here to enjoy my dinner & Karaoke on Friday night on 8/29/25. The waitress sent me to the next room to find my own table.
After I had finished my dinner, I took my glass glass of iced tea with me to the Karaoke room.
I sat down at the bar to watch the Karaoke show. When will this bartender going to give me a refill?
My empty glass been sitting on the counter for more than 2 hours!
Am I invincible, or has she been drinking & not paying attention?
That’s been a long time with an empty glass on the counter in front of a customer who would like another refill…
I usually tip every refill.
I’d feel more comfortable if this bartender switch with the nice bartender from the other room near the entrance. Maybe I’ll come here more often for dinner and Karaoke. & I wouldn’t had to give you such a poor rating…

This was one of those food finds that pleasantly surprises you every time. Why? Because the outside is very unassuming and this Pub is in an industrial area. As soon as you walk inside you are greeted by a very nice lady who then takes you to your table. The first thing I noticed is how large this Ristorante is on the inside. I don’t know how many people can be seated at the same time, but it is a lot. There were four of us, and we had never been here before, and we were greeted with smiling faces. Our waiter was great and had personality which is a refreshing find anymore.
The food was fantastic! I had a steak and baked potato, and it was all cooked perfectly, and the taste was out of this world. The bread that was delivered to our table was fresh and tasty. The staff was what made us feel comfortable. Usually places like this are geared toward being friendly to locals, and indifferent to strangers. This place made us feel right at home. On the way out, a gentleman shook our hands and bid us good night. I assume that was the owner. That is old school classic customer service! We loved everything about this place and we will be back for sure. If you are a business owner and you find your staff is struggling to give good customer service, then go eat here so you can take some notes on what’s missing! Keep up the great work JCs, and no doubt you will be around 50 years from now. Oh, and PS…what would it take to reserve your Limo service? True style in your parking lot!
