Stopped in on a Friday night all the way from CT after plans failed of going to Philly.. figured I’d search for a dive bar in the area and this spot was suggested..
from the food to the service i will absolutely be making it a point to come in this area more often just for the vibes this place brings.
True hometown dive bar ran by people who have a true love for the industry.
Rachel was PHENOMENAL! Her upsell skills are for sure the best I have ever seen and I’ve been i grew up in the industry.. I came in talking about a Philly cheesesteak and she said it was great however her fav were the Philly cheesesteak waffle fries… HOLY JESUS!!! I might have to stop back there on my way home for an order! There’s nothing better than a server/bartender who knows the menu and the actual good stuff! The chef did phenomenal, I will be thinking of those fried for the rest of my life..
thank you Jays Elbow Room for turning our trip completely around..

This the 2nd time ordering before I had to leave my honest review. 1st order cheesesteak, steak fries and wings … disappointed to say the least. Cheesesteak was soggy, fries were cold, wings undercooked. I decided let me give them one more chance, this time I ordered 2 chicken Caesar wraps, cheesesteak fries. Horrible. The chicken casear wrap have 99 % lettuce and a very very small few pieces of chicken. And fries didn’t not come with the wrap but a small bag of chips and one pickle. I spent entirely too much money, won’t be ever ordering from here again. Over priced, food quality poor. 1 star from me and this is my honest review

I’ve got to tell you about Jay’s Elbow Room. Whether you’ve spent your whole life in the area or are just passing through, you’re in for a treat. This place has it all: pool tables, cozy dim lighting, a fantastic jukebox, and bartenders who serve the coldest domestics and the most delicious whiskey-ginger combo, all at great prices. The non-fancy vibe is fantastic. If you’re after cocktails, want to relax outside, or prefer to enjoy a cold beer at the bar or in a booth, this is the spot for you. With affordable drinks, good company, and zero pretension, it’s genuinely a little piece of heaven. Five stars all around!

I wanna share a disturbing experience I had here on 1/23 around 2am. For safety I’m posting this on a throwaway account
While sitting at the bar alone, I was approached by an individual who made an explicit offer to engage in prostitution. This was completely unsolicited and made me feel unsafe and extremely uncomfortable.
What concerned me even more is that this did not appear to be an isolated interaction. When I questioned what was happening, the individual pointed out multiple people seated around the bar and indicated they were involved. When I spoke to staff, it was clear they were already familiar with this person and this behavior, and no meaningful action was taken to stop it or remove anyone involved. I contacted the police. they told me this is something they have seen before at this location.
I’m sharing this so others can make an informed decision about whether this is an environment they’re comfortable in.

Awesome hang out with decent food. Definitely a local place and servers who have been here forever. Stopped in for lunch and sat outside. Was very quiet, most likely due to the heat. On good weather days it is very busy!! My pictures arent great but my lunch which was a chicken cheesesteak with a side of onion rings was very good. My gf ordered an egg salad sandwich which is her regular item, says it is really delicious. My other friend ordered a cajun cheesesteak and loved it. We also shared fried cheese bites (yummy, who doesn’t like fried cheese). Great place to be casual and throw back a few pitchers of beers for sure!

Rachel,One of the bartenders who works on Monday nights makes my stop at the bar pleasurable. She’s very sociable and good at her job. Wish she was behind the bar more often . Jays is a fun bar and is open later than most other local places. Def recommend this spot !

After working all day I just wanted some wings, sometimes you don’t know what your craving until you’re too hungry, and as a wing lover it’s usually the wings. I didn’t want to drive too far as I was tired, I debated between jays elbow and another place. Jays was much closer so that’s what it was. This is definitely a dive bar, the second you walk in you know, and prices usually reflect that, this place could be the definition of a dive bar. The thing that confused me about wings here was that they have small and large, all it means is either the 8 or 16. I thought that it mean the wing size.. I ordered garlic hot. The wings were the definition of medium-large. Every one of them. I’m a medium to small wing guy but whoever cooked these knew what were they doing. I’ve never had the size of these wings cooked so perfect. Every bite was delicious and you can’t say that about a lot of the wings. The sauce was ok, nothing crazy, blue cheese was ok as well, but whoever cooked them deserves a medal. I’ve never enjoyed wings of this size cooked so well. Definitely a good spot to stop by, and the price 11.50 for 8 wings was bit unreal these days and I was filled up. I’ll definitely come back, kitchen is awesome.

After many years of driving by and even living locally, I finally stopped into Jay’s Elbow Room. It was pretty much as I expected. Your typical “hole in the wall bar”…..dark, dank, and odd smells. Our waitresses were very friendly, however we did end up waiting about 45 mins to get our food, and the place was not busy at all (we were there on a Wednesday night).
Fried pickles started off the night, which is a must at any bar that serves them. They were “spears” as opposed to the standard “chips”. A tad bit dry, but still very good!! She ordered Buffalo bites, Fries and Mozzarella Sticks. I had eight of the hot wings. I mistakenly ordered hot, not knowing that I could have had medium. The hot wings were indeed HOT, and there were still two hotter temperatures after that! Three sodas and a bunch of celery sticks later, I finished my wings. They were pretty darn good despite my burning mouth and stomach! Very unique to that bar.
So, would I go back to Jay’s Elbow Room, more than likely, but it may take a few more years and a couple more trips by.
