I’ve used to go here a lot more for lunch when I worked across the street. sucks that I work so far away now. But now that I started doing reviews I believe I should do it for them. And tonight the Dinner was great and the gentleman that served us was great. They got us chips and salsa soon as we say down which was perfect cause I was starving. I asked him soup or the taco salad and he said take the soup and was it worth it. Awesome

Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant is a no-frills, home-style spot. The vibe is family, the food is solid. I had a mixed fajita—great flavors, but come on, three shrimp on a $25 plate? They apologized, so I’ll give them a pass. Just skip the canned jalapeños next time. Still, the chips, guac, and genuine hospitality win. Prices are a bit high, but it’s a local family business. We’ll be back—because it’s got heart.

I grew up with this restaurant when it was FIVE STARS across ALL CATEGORIES.
Not anymore.
We spent $80 last night for 3 measly meals and a large chips and salsa (I had specifically been craving their tortilla soup, which I didn’t even order because it’s now $16 for a simple tomato broth and 4 cheap soup toppings). I’ve been annoyed for several years by their gradual shrinkflation and increasing “to-go container” charges, but when I didn’t tip 18% for our pick up order last night, the bags were thrown in my hands rudely and I was left, for the first time ever, to take my bags, alone, to my handicapped car in the parking lot.
Go to Ernesto’s or Tiago’s.
Guadalajara is no longer a “neighborhood favorite.”

Some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time.
Our waitress was really nice and kept our drinks full. Two servings of Nachos and Salsa for us and we didn’t have to ask.I highly recommend this spot.
I had one of the combos which was a taco and a burrito.
Really Good!

Super Nachos are super delicious! Especially with extra jalepeños and guac. And while you wait, the salsa and chips always hit the spot. We always ask for more.
Servers are friendly and seat you right away. Food comes out when and as expected.
Music is always fine, background music, not overbearing. Easy to eat and talk to your dinner party. Except for a few weeks ago, a young male server cranked up his Jesus worship music to 11 and went to town singing every song for almost my entire meal. I was not a fan. Felt like I was in church being told over and over to love and follow some random dude blindly when I just wanted to enjoy my nachos. He didn’t read the room. Looked like he thought he was the only one there or that everyone was equally enthusiastic about the church music and/or his singing. Just before the check came, the racket was turned off and the regular tunes came back at a bearable level. Good riddance. Please never do that again.

After reading all the great reviews, I was really hyped to try this spot. Walking in, the décor was a bit below average — but honestly, that’s not a dealbreaker for me. Some of the best authentic mom-and-pop Mexican restaurants keep it simple, so I was expecting the food to really shine.
The food was fresh, which I definitely appreciate, but it was lacking flavor and didn’t quite live up to the expectations. For the price, I felt it was a little overpriced for what we received.
That said, the service was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and easily the highlight of the experience. Great staff, just hoping the flavors step up next time.

I had not been to Guadalajara in a long time, but it’s a decent place for a good Mexican meal. We enjoyed our Mexican Plate and Camarones al Ajillo. Service was attentive and pretty fast, we went for dinner and spent the expected $30 p/p. It’s a basic, rustic restaurant, which is fine. Parking is an issue with small parking lot. I would recommend this restaurant.

I’m confused with all the bad service reviews. I’ve been dining here for 15+ years, and never ever have I dealt with a rude person. Everyone is always warm and inviting. Maybe its the bad attitude of the patrons that triggered a bad attitude which, being miami, wouldn’t be surprising to encounter a lousy impatient customer. Food quality rarely fluctuates, but it’s typically good. I’m not going to stop dining there just because of one bad day. Pfft, they are humans, too. Anyways, I think it’s time to head over there again. =)
