Food was really tasty! Older cafe it feels pretty clean. Food was fast, service was great. Definitely a local gem!

When my wife and I were getting ready to move to Kenmore we drove past Jay’s several times, wondering if it was still operating or not! Oh boy, is it ever! We finally got to go to breakfast there the other day and were not disappointed. My wife’s blueberry pancakes were spot-on, and my Breakfast Sampler was a bargain at $14. Sure, the $1 hollandaise tasted like … well, $1 hollandaise … lol! But every other element of the dish was really good! We’ll be back – very soon!

If you’re looking for local, home-style meals you are probably already coming here!

The fact that despite future uncertainty, the employees are here, offer excellent service and the food is fresh and delightful speaks volumes.

If you’re looking for pretense, keep driving.

Great service, Annie was an absolute delight to talk with!

Had the country-fried steak, normal 2-egg breakfast, and the eggs Benedict. Nothing fancy, just good, solid breakfast food. We’ll be back when we’re in town.

We chose this place based on its 4.1-star rating, but it ended up being one of the worst breakfasts we’ve had in a long time. The omelette was so overcooked it was practically rigid—I could lift it off the plate with a fork. The French toast came with margarine, which pretty much summed up the overall ingredient quality. The carpet was visibly dirty, and the entire restaurant felt worn down and poorly maintained. Definitely a greasy spoon, and not in a good way. The staff was friendly but the restaurant is a complete dive.

Very friendly staff, food came out quick. Could use a little improvement on food quality but was still delicious. Good price point for their meals, would recommend to others and most likely will come back for more.

I’ve frequented this place more times than I can count over the last 10 years. It has that classic American morning diner feel and a friendly staff to match. Food isn’t out of this world, but honestly— it’s exactly what you would expect. It always peacefully busy in the morning no matter what day of the week, yet the wait staff is always able to seat us in a timely manner regardless. I have three kids and two of them absolutely love it here. The sprinkles on their pancakes always have the little one begging to come back, and it’s a demand I happily say yes to. Jays is actually so kid friendly that my youngest doesn’t like breakfast at any other restaurants as their kid menus just don’t meet her standards.

Unfortunately one of my littles has celiacs so this place is not an option for her as the menu here does not cater to food sensitivities. So if you have restrictions, I would call before hand just to double check!

I love this place and I hope they stick around for years and years to come. Because not everything is about impeccable food, the atmosphere and wait staff also make a huge difference to the overall dining experience and Jay’s Cafe is a perfect example of that! (Although I’ve never left my plate empty ha!)

With all of the growth of new and trendy restaurants in the area, this is a refreshing spot, very unpretentious. Wonderful service and very much a classic “greasy spoon” down home cafe. The biscuits with whipped butter and honey are wonderful. There are breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.

A Local Gem in Kenmore!
Jay Café is a charming, long-standing spot in the Kenmore area, and it truly lives up to its reputation. I came in for breakfast and was blown away by their French toast — it was delicious, perfectly golden, and had just the right balance of sweetness. You can tell they put care into their food, and the portions are generous for the price.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, giving you that cozy, neighborhood feel. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. One added bonus is the spacious parking lot behind the café — it’s very convenient and makes the visit even more stress-free.

It’s clear why this place has remained a favorite in the community for so long. I’ll definitely be back!

Old school greasy spoon diner at its finest.

Great, personable service, insane portions of tasty old school diner food.

Not much to look at from the outside, but definitely do not judge this book by its cover.
