It also has good biryanis I tried chicken Biryani and loved it. The servers are super friendly and professional.
The place is clean and spacious. Ideally located in Hamilton central with ample parking.
Good luck Jayalakshmi team !!
The staff service was excellent, friendly, and attentive. At the end, we ordered filter coffee and masala tea. The filter coffee had an authentic South Indian taste, which we really enjoyed.
Overall, we are very satisfied with the food and service. Just one small suggestion — the sambar was very good, but the quantity served was quite less. Also, charging $2 extra for additional sambar felt a bit high.
We’ve already visited three times in less than a month because we just can’t get enough! The service is warm and attentive, and the spacious seating makes it perfect for families or large groups.
A must-try if you love South Indian food especially Chettinad food.
However, with no other similar cuisine available, we took a chance.
Jayalakhsmi restaurant took us by a storm, where, not only were the idli’s like how we make at home, but the chutney, sambhar were phenomenal. So next came my uneasiness around meat / non-vegetarian items, as most restaurants are good at either the vegetarian or the others. Thankfully, and to my intense satisfaction, the meat items also stood our critical sense of judgement having grown up with such food…
Ordered idli, vada combo plate, the mutton curry dosa, chicken kothu parotta. Quality and quantity were equally on top. Literally cleaned the plates up. Although full, I still had my doubts – last one to stand the test was Chicken Biryani. This is south Indian style and nothing similar to Hyderabadi Biryani or Mughal/Awadhi styles. So before any reviewers put down south Indian Biryani, please know and understand the flavors and cuisine. The Biryani flavors were amazing and while I probably tasted 2 spoons, that was enough. Tasted the rava pineapple Kesari and it was probably the best non-home made Kesari I’ve tasted.
Finally, an amazing South Indian restaurant in Hamilton. To note, the next closest is Mississauga. Or, across the border. There’s no decent enough South Indian restaurants between Jayalakhsmi and the Niagara Falls peace bridge!!!
Kudos to Vikram and his team. The challenge now will be to maintain the high quality we tasted on our first visit.
Overall, attesting to the deserved 5 star rating this restaurant has. This is the find of 2025 for me…
The Kothu Parotta was flavourful, perfectly spiced, and had that authentic South Indian taste with tender chicken pieces mixed in.
The chicken fried rice was also very good — fresh, not oily, with well-seasoned chicken.
The service was friendly, the food came out hot, and overall it was a great experience. Definitely a place we would visit again!
If you’re looking to try something truly delicious from a South Indian restaurant, I definitely recommend giving this place a visit. Come and experience it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed .
