We recently visited this South Indian restaurant and absolutely loved it! We tried the parotta with salna and some fried rice — both were incredibly delicious. The parotta was perfectly flaky, and the salna had that authentic South Indian flavor that’s hard to find elsewhere. The fried rice was just like chennai style. Honestly, this place serves some of the best South Indian food in town. Definitely worth visiting again!

This is gem of a restaurant serving south Indian food. I have been twice here and they are absolutely fabulous. The Dosas ,Medu wadas and filter coffee is out of this world. So good I have no words to describe. Anyone who loves south Indian food should visit this restaurant.
It also has good biryanis I tried chicken Biryani and loved it. The servers are super friendly and professional.
The place is clean and spacious. Ideally located in Hamilton central with ample parking.
Good luck Jayalakshmi team !!

We visited the Hamilton branch on Valentine’s Day and had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the chocolate dosa, spring masala dosa, podi masala dosa, and Mumbai Mysore masala dosa — all of them were very tasty and perfectly prepared. We truly loved the food and the atmosphere.

The staff service was excellent, friendly, and attentive. At the end, we ordered filter coffee and masala tea. The filter coffee had an authentic South Indian taste, which we really enjoyed.

Overall, we are very satisfied with the food and service. Just one small suggestion — the sambar was very good, but the quantity served was quite less. Also, charging $2 extra for additional sambar felt a bit high.

Jayalakshmi is hands down one of the best new restaurants in town. Every single dish we tried was a star — full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The Chettinad Dum Biryani, freshly made Parotta, Mutton Chukka Pepper, Kottu Porotta, Chicken 65, Dosa, and even the humble Idly were just unbeatable. The flavors literally burst in my mouth — authentic, rich, and unforgettable.

We’ve already visited three times in less than a month because we just can’t get enough! The service is warm and attentive, and the spacious seating makes it perfect for families or large groups.

A must-try if you love South Indian food especially Chettinad food.

A 5 star rating always makes me uneasy. With more AI generatiing reviews, that uneasiness has increased in the last year.

However, with no other similar cuisine available, we took a chance.

Jayalakhsmi restaurant took us by a storm, where, not only were the idli’s like how we make at home, but the chutney, sambhar were phenomenal. So next came my uneasiness around meat / non-vegetarian items, as most restaurants are good at either the vegetarian or the others. Thankfully, and to my intense satisfaction, the meat items also stood our critical sense of judgement having grown up with such food…

Ordered idli, vada combo plate, the mutton curry dosa, chicken kothu parotta. Quality and quantity were equally on top. Literally cleaned the plates up. Although full, I still had my doubts – last one to stand the test was Chicken Biryani. This is south Indian style and nothing similar to Hyderabadi Biryani or Mughal/Awadhi styles. So before any reviewers put down south Indian Biryani, please know and understand the flavors and cuisine. The Biryani flavors were amazing and while I probably tasted 2 spoons, that was enough. Tasted the rava pineapple Kesari and it was probably the best non-home made Kesari I’ve tasted.

Finally, an amazing South Indian restaurant in Hamilton. To note, the next closest is Mississauga. Or, across the border. There’s no decent enough South Indian restaurants between Jayalakhsmi and the Niagara Falls peace bridge!!!

Kudos to Vikram and his team. The challenge now will be to maintain the high quality we tasted on our first visit.

Overall, attesting to the deserved 5 star rating this restaurant has. This is the find of 2025 for me…

I visited this South Indian restaurant recently, and the food was just average. Some dishes were okay, but overall, it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The Chicken 65 was decent, but they could consider adding a side sauce—just a suggestion to make it more flavorful. The service was decent, and the atmosphere was fine, but I was hoping for a more memorable experience.

We tried the Chicken Kothu Parotta and Chicken Fried Rice at Jayalakshmi South Indian Cuisine, and both dishes were fantastic.

The Kothu Parotta was flavourful, perfectly spiced, and had that authentic South Indian taste with tender chicken pieces mixed in.

The chicken fried rice was also very good — fresh, not oily, with well-seasoned chicken.

The service was friendly, the food came out hot, and overall it was a great experience. Definitely a place we would visit again!

I had tried from Jayalakshmi South Indian Restaurant in Brantford before and loved the food, so when i came to know that they opened new branch in Hamilton, so I decided to visit today. I ordered the Podi Onion Uttapam, Gobi 65, Filter Coffee and Chicken Dum Biryani, and everything was absolutely delicious. The Gobi 65 was crispy and flavourfull which i liked most. Their food quality was excellent, they maintained same quality and standard, the ambience too good and the service was quick and professional. We didn’t have to wait long. Staff were so good and attentive. And their Filter coffee was perfect – aromatic and authentic taste.
If you’re looking to try something truly delicious from a South Indian restaurant, I definitely recommend giving this place a visit. Come and experience it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed .
