Amy and I ate there tonight for the first time and we were very pleased with the delicious food and wine. I had surf & turf and she had a huge salad with a veggie medley and sweet potato side. The atmosphere was charmingly folksy, as one would expect from a landmark restaurant.
Even though the place was very busy for a Wednesday evening, the service was good.
We’ve already made plans to go back again soon and we will certainly tell our friends what a great experience we had.

Terrible terrible terrible!! Dinning room about 80% filled. Appetizers took 15 minutes. Meals took over an hour. Fried chicken was so dried out – not even chewable. Shrimp was like chewing rubber. Waitress was very attentive and “Johny on the spot” and very apologetic but could not solve the timing issues. No one was receiving their food!! A table of 4 ( with a hungry preteen) left prior to the arrival of their order. As did others. Another table of 2 were naping while waiting. Manager was apologetic but no reasons given.

Highly recommended. Great place to stop if traveling with kids! Delicious food and plenty to do, including feeding the fish and turtles. You can even walk along a trail around the lake and stretch. I noticed all the bad reviews when checking what exit to get off of and couldn’t believe it! We have been stopping here on our way from FL to NC for over 10 years and have never been disappointed!

Looking for a light meal while on a road trip up 95 and thought this place would be a good stop for a salad….we thought wrong. While the bar side of the restaurant was packed with seniors jamming to some local karaoke star singing show tunes (admittedly a great voice), the family side of the restaurant was sparsely populated with nearby hotel guests. Their buffet bar looked less than appealing with mostly brown food and some iceberg lettuce alongside the classic salad fixings. So we opted for the menu salad. I ordered the low country shrimp salad ($14) and my husband ordered the chef salad ($10) with grilled chicken added ($14). After 40 minutes went by, we thought they were plucking the chicken out back and casting the nets for the shrimp for what better have been a mind-blowing energy-gifting green superfood delight. But no, not even close. We waited for 40 minutes for maybe 4 oz of restaurant griddle-seared chicken breast and shrimp (served on a side place) next to a small handful of iceberg (in the chef) and spinach (in the low country). $30 for a handful of bagged lettuce and meager serving of “grilled” shrimp/chicken was severely disappointing, although not surprising for the neck of the woods we found ourselves in while searching for edible greens. If you’re going for the food, don’t waste your time. If you’re going for some fun, cheesy Saturday night entertainment, go right ahead.

We got there and I wasn’t all that hungry so we just ordered a few appetizers to share. I was very impressed with the food. The setting was perfect for a family traveling with kids. We had been in the car all day so feeding the fish before eating and taking a walk around the lake after was a lifesaver.

Don’t go on a Sunday…or at all. We didn’t even stay to eat. Buffet looked disgusting and food looked to be out for many hours (got there around 5p and food had to have been put out around 11a and not rotated or added to). We walked in and were greeted by a blast of hot stagnant air (it was about 74 out) and not a soul. When someone did come and seat us, they didn’t even have a menu; our options were the scuzzy vile looking buffet for $13 per person (you read right) or a “limited menu” of sandwiches that didn’t sound low country at all; which to add insult to injury, they were $10 a pop…which is what the restaurant touts. When my fiance remarked on how disgusting the buffet was, the poor waitress didn’t even flinch or say anything (we took that as tacit agreement)…we just ended up leaving…too afraid to even eat anything.

Good buffet and family friendly. Sat on the porch and watched for the alligators. She crab soup and shrimp egg rolls were fantastic. Convenient location immediately off the expressway yet has a secluded low country feel.

Well thought we were going to get more of a country cooking place, wrong. Was more seafood than anything. High prices for budget travelers. Used a sausage gravy on chicken fried steak. Salad was nice. Good portion for kids menu. But $$ got us.

We would never return bad food like it been on the dinner all day. Rude like it’s not important to have good food at all times. To tell it all!!!
1. We wasn’t greeted as we came
2. The waitress was sweeping the floor and another waitress said table 12 is your and yet no one still didn’t greet us. Finally she finshed sweeping and can and spoke and asked what are we going to have.
3. I went to the dinner bar and got fried chicken and fish and rice and beans mac and cheese
The chicken was cold but seasoned nicely, the fish was cold and old as if it had been there since lunch time, the rice was hard the beans cold but again season ed well.
4. I said the waitress when was they going to put out hot fresh food and was told they was getting it together for they had a rush. That mesns the food should have been hot for the mac and cheese had sat so long it top noodles was hard. Then they brouht out some fish and it was refied for it was so dark and hard and dried out. That was the last straw.
5. Asked for the manager told her what was wrong with no apologies walked away and she went to the bar and was tasting the food.
6. We sat for 10 min more and no food ever came out we left.
