Cute authentic Japanese bakery cafe that recently re-opened near Fenway. There was a line almost out the door but managed to squeeze in on a Saturday morning. The pastries are light, airy and all handmade! Because of this, they are also quick to sell out of their popular pastries, including their Totoro buns and melon pans. The service is great! Shoutout to Aslan who was a fantastic cashier. Would definitely recommend coming here, it is a unique bakery and worth a visit.

We went early in the morning on a rainy day while they were still setting things out. The bakery smelled incredible. The staff were super friendly. We ordered the Totoro buns and they were so light and fluffy. The cream filling was almost like a pudding. I think the cream was the only thing I wasn’t crazy about. I also wished they had a seating area. But I can’t wait to come back and try more of their baked goods!

So happy to see Japonaise open again! They had Wonder Woman working the front counter with a line out the door, and a baby strapped to her chest. She was so kind despite the craziness and handled things like a champ. Most people coming here are probably coming for the cute IG worthy buns which are delicious, but don’t sleep on their dinner rolls and milk bread!!! They are SO GOOD and have completely changed my sandwich game for the better.

We ordered a cake to celebrate our friend’s birthday. We called in a little late, right before noon, and they were able to have the cake ready by 2pm the same day! The staff are so so friendly, incredibly accommodating considering how late we called (it’s recommended you call 24hrs in advance~), and the cake was DELICIOUS. Not too sweet, but just the right amount of sweet and creaminess. The strawberries were very fresh and presentation was spot on. My husband also picked up some Totoro cream buns which were incredibly cute and very very yummy~ we will definitely be back for more! Thank you Japonaise Bakery for the great experience:)
