We had a huge party here and our server, Jim, was amazing. He was very available and attentive to our needs. The whole Catfish was delicious. The French fries were well seasoned. The pinto beans and hush puppies were delicious. The pickled tomatoes was addictive. Great party.

Our friend who took us thought it was excellent; I didn’t have the heart to tell him how I really felt. The catfish had almost NO flavor and it was tough to eat without a knife (none was given.) The tartar sauce was thin and runny. The coleslaw was pretty tasty but it seemed watered down, too. The beans were good, as were the hush puppies, and the tomato relish was very nice. It all averaged out to just being okay. I probably won’t visit again.

One of the best fish spots in the area! Hot northwestern Louisiana Southern fried catfish!!! The coleslaw was fresh and the beans soup was spiced to perfection! Must try this place if you are in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

My husband and I have been eating at Jan’s for 30 years and we haven’t found fried fish anywhere that compares to Jan’s River Restaurant’s fried catfish! The service is great too.

The customer service was better than the food, the salad was plain with no cheese or anything that you would want on a salad the beans had no taste whatsoever so not the best place I have to the food was nasty and you can not share and if you do you have to pay $7 just to share.

Driving up to Jan’s we thought we were in the wrong place but we saw people walking in so we went in as well. The best decision ever. After being greeted they layer out what we could only call a typical Southern table. We got hush puppies, cold slaw, green tomato relish, an onion slice, lemon slices, bean soup and tartar sauce. All were delicious. For our meals we ordered the 16oz marinaded ribeye steak and a baked potato and the grilled catfish and fries. So much food and so good. Even had enough for dinner the next night. Such amazingly great food!! We also appreciated the great service we received from the staff.
