The menu is excellent. The food was memorable. The soft shell crab was outstanding lightly battered, large and available plain or with a fresh lemon butter or crawfish cream sauce. All were great. The Steak Diane was beautiful when served and tasted even better. Service was as good or better than the food.
The prices were very reasonable. A hidden jewel family restaurant. I highly recommend

The food is amazing and it’s just a soft touch of the perfect everything for a short night out on a date, a business meeting, formal, an informal meeting, just casual. Janie’s is a place for everyone. It takes alot to impress me for restaurants. But seeing the Owner Mrs. Janie, herself move about the establishment and taking orders, cleaning tables, refilling drinks… I dont know how you can’t fall in love with this place when the owner is still putting personal time and effort and passion into her establishment! The atmosphere is awesome. I recommend trying this place if you’re undecided in the St.Tammany area, they will get you right!

Very nice place inside, service was really slow. Food was not good. Crab cakes were awful. Crab meat Pontchartrain was also not very good. Tastes like stove top and cream of mushroom mixed with Crab meat and way over cooked shrimp. They did have 2 big tables which probably factored in to the bad service.

This place is top tier! I don’t think they know how good their food is. Delicious stuff, always comes out hot and tastes fresh. The oyster crackers to start are amazing. Frat restaurant.

The food was delicious, the service was friendly and prices are reasonable. We ordered the spaghetti, trout, grilled eggplant, and crab & corn bisque and it all surpassed our expectations. We will definitely be returning here!

Always a great time, been here 25+ times.. Big portions, tried and tru bangers on the menu, and a great atmosphere. Would be great, knowing the quality of the product they put out, if they would switch up the menu once in a while. Besides the small menu no complaints at all.

My husband and I were camping at Fontainebleau State Park and decided last minute to try out Janie Brown’s for dinner. We had a wonderful first experience there. The people were friendly, the restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was prompt, and the food was fresh and delicious. We had the fried fish and soft shell crab (both with baked potatoes instead of fries), and our meals were perfect from beginning to end. Even the salad and toast were excellent…and that fish batter was reminiscent of the “good ole days.” As an added bonus, the bar stocked non-alcoholic beer (Coors Edge), which allowed us to splurge a bit, as we no longer drink but still love to have a beer together. In talking with our server, we heard a little bit of the background of Janie Brown’s, and learning its history as a family restaurant made us even happier to be there. We definitely will be back!
