The menu has a great variety of traditional dishes, and the flavors were tasty and well-prepared. I liked their seafood noodles and beef bibimbap the most. The food portion was large.
The atmosphere is cozy and clean. The place could get a bit noisy when busy. Would definitely return.
The delicious Korean staples are Jja-jang-myon (black bean noodles) and Ttang-su-yuk (Fried pork with sweet sauce). Steam dumplings and Yang-Jang-pi (seafood and vegetables with mustard sauce) are tasty.
The decor needs to be updated and feels a bit old.
Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant.
The last 3 times (and now last) I’ve ordered, they now have limp soggy overcooked noodles with a black bean sauce that has way too much salt and little no character.
Other dishes are good like Tang Su Yuk but avoid the Jajangmyeon.
Their menu is quite expansive, with six pages filled with everything from noodles to rice to giant platters of meat and veggies. It felt nearly impossible to choose from the giant list of drool-worthy dishes, but we eventually settled on the classic jjamppong and the tofu dolsat bibimbap. The jjamppong was phenomenal — it was incredibly flavorful and rich and packed chock-full of various seafood, including mussels, oysters, shrimp, and squid. This classic noodle soup was absolutely deserving of its place as one of Jang Won’s specialty dishes. The tofu bibimbap was equally outstanding; I love anything that comes in a dolsat (the hot stone bowls that keeps the food warm and sizzling), and Jang Won did a phenomenal job with theirs. The stone bowl gave the rice at the bottom a great crispy texture, which, alongside the crispy, perfectly fried tofu, contrasted wonderfully with the soft rice and warm soup. I loved the variety of veggies — including carrots, zucchini, spinach, and gosari namul — and the combination of the soup and gochujang-based sauce helped to tie the whole dish together. I did think that there was a smidge too much rice compared to other fillings, but it was absolutely delicious.
This place completely blew my mind. The food was easily some of the best Korean Chinese food in the NOVA area. We ordered 짜장면 (JaJang Myun), 짬뽕 (Jjam Bbong), 탕수육 (Beef TangSuYuk Large), 깐풍새우 (KhanPung Shrimp), and 군만두 (fried dumplings). Every single dish was excellent. No misses.
We came with a group of 10 people, ordered a lot of food, and somehow it came out to about $25 per person AFTER tax and a 20% tip. That is honestly crazy cheap considering how full we were.
Service was great. The owner and servers were friendly, attentive, and clearly cared. The restaurant was very clean. Ambience is typical for a Korean Chinese restaurant. Nothing fancy, minimal banchan, which is exactly what you expect.
Parking could be larger, but it was manageable.
Overall, this is an easy 5/5 for me, and I would highly recommend Jang Won. I will definitely be back.
