Jamaican Café Cuisine was born from the idea of many years of entrepreneurship as a youngster attending Elementary school and had to assist my mom in providing the necessities for myself and my siblings. As I journeyed through high school, I became more efficient in marketing many different products and odd jobs for tourists visiting Jamaica. I would get anything they need for marginal profits if it was not offered in the hotel. During this time, I met two gentlemen with whom I have now shared friendships for over 24 years. One of whom has mentored me over these years.

I just recently tried this spot for the first time. I ordered online and the food was ready when I got there, minus the beef patty because they didn’t want it overcooked, which I appreciate. The service was very friendly.
I don’t eat Jamaican food a lot due to a sensitive stomach. Haven’t eaten it in probably 10 or so years. I tried a beef patty, curry goat, a side of jerk chicken, mac and cheese, cabbage, and finally rice and beans.
nothing was bad, or too spicy for my weak ass stomach but the star of the show was the curry goat. Tender and full of flavor. jerk chicken was good but I’ve had better. Same goes for the sides including the beef patty. I mixed my leftover chicken and goat with the leftover rice and it tasted even better the next day. all in all, I’d come back and recommend you check them out.

A few people on here were complaining about the ox tail portions so I decided to do a little investigating today 🙂 Ordered a large ox tail/ extra rice/ Mac & cheese and that’s exactly what I received! It was a nice, generous portion AND it was delicious! Man I’m full! Sitting here rubbing my tummy just as happy as can be. Can’t wait to go to sleep 🙂 I genuinely thought the food was great, definitely a new spot added to the list. All I’m saying is, go try it for yourself. Everybody have a blessed day.

Things have gone downhill here. The food use to be very fresh when I got it but now it’s very obvious the jerk chicken is siting somewhere for hours waiting for me to order it. The chicken is extremely dry and hard in some places. It’s that overcooked chicken sensation. I know there was a Middletown location that went out of business and that spoke volumes as your game was not ready for better competition over there. I’m not sure you all can fix this problem but just making you aware although I have it completely given up I no longer view this place as a great option for dinner. Just a place I can grab a quick bite after I get my hair cut next door.

I placed an online order thru a 3rd party app which I use for this restaurant all the time. When I arrived to pick up my food 15 minutes after the scheduled time I used for the app it was not ready. I was still waiting and about 8 mins later the lady at the counter advised me that the macaroni and cheese wasn’t ready. I told her I already paid extra for it and then the guy making the food came out and told me I didn’t have to order it as extra next time. I already knew what I was doing when I ordered it so he annoyed me with that. I then asked to have a refund. He then explained that they were short today and he came in so they could be open for us customers. I can assure you he did me no favors by making that comment to me. However he did make sure I was not charged for my food but I was angry but I stayed patient with them. Usually I don’t have a problem with them but to have to wait an hour extra for Mac and cheese then act like I didn’t know how to order my food I was over them.

The mac and cheese did not meet expectations. Similarly, the sweet and sour chicken bites were also lacking in flavor. The rice had a mushy texture, and the cabbage did not add much to the meal.The jerk chicken was large more like turkey wings. However, the yams were simply boiled and lacked seasoning. Overall, the experience was unsatisfactory for me, although I acknowledge that taste preferences vary among individuals. If assistance with cooking is needed, I am available to help.And the crazy part is my husband never complains about food and he didn’t even like it

This isn’t my first time here, we asked for extra rice last time and we were told to swap a side for it next time. Today we requested a large oxtail platter with extra rice as a side and the platter still contained the same small amount of rice as a regular platter which was very disappointing. This prompted me right a review. The food is delicious, not salty and freshly made. The restaurant used to look nice. However, the atmosphere is now a bit disorganized.

I guess ordering on a Friday evening was a mistake. It took 1 hour and 30 minutes for my order to be delivered which likely meant you were super busy or out of certain items and needed to cook more food. 1st platter I ordered oxtail, mac and yams. I received oxtail, white rice, and double order of yams. 2nd platter I ordered jerk chicken rice and peas (beans) mac, and yams. I received jerk chicken, white rice and double order of yams. The yams were flavorless, like out of a can or just came out of boiling water and straight to the platter container, and putting gravy from the meat on the yams was not a fix. If the restaurant was out of certain food items, a call to let me know would have been good customer service instead of giving me an unpleasant surprise. Do better brethren, this is blasphemous coming from a Jamaican restaurant.
