My husband and I tried this place for the first time tonight and we were very impressed! The restaurant was very nice and clean, and the customer service was excellent from start to finish.
The food? Chef’s kiss! We ordered the regular oxtail plates with rice and beans, cabbage, and cornbread. The plates were very heavy and full — especially for a regular size — so it was definitely worth the $25. Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly.
We will definitely be back!

We arrived just before closing, yet the owner re-opened the shop and graciously welcomed us in. He served us food himself! Excellent hospitality. The food was very delicious, and truly authentic Jamaican food, (coming from a Jamaican). The portion sizes were also very large! We would highly recommend this store, and can’t wait to be back!

I recently went to this restaurant after craving some Jamaican cuisine. I went with the purpose of ordering the brown stew beef, I tried to go yesterday and discovered that they are closed on Mondays. I made my side options of green beans and rice with peas. I couldn’t wait for the flavors and taste to satisfy my taste buds. Sad to say the meat was dry and tasted old. The vegetables were fresh but the meat definitely wasn’t. It didn’t even have any flavors absorbed, just dry. I am so disappointed, this is the first time this has happened since I visited this place in more than 5 visits in two months. This plate wasn’t worthy of my hard earned money.

I have been to a number Jamaican and Caribbean places over the past 5 years as I travel from Key West to Boundary Line, Maine, and as far West as Nashville for work. While I am appreciative of the service and food at these places, they don’t really compare to the food at Jamaica Taste. The goat ribs and brown slaw took me right back to Auntie B’s in Anguilla and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I actually think the Curried Goat Ribs at Jamaica taste were the best I’ve had period, and the brown slaw was dynamite. Pretty damn good corn bread too! Every time I go to Albany, I’m going there.

Quaint restaurant. Great service. Found while looking for something else in the area. Loved the curry goat. Who am I kidding l loved it all.
I will most definitely add to my want to go places when in Albany, GA.

We got the Brown Stew Beef plate with rice & beans and green beans, and the Jerk Chicken with greens and fried plantains… and o seriously was the best meal we have eaten in a very long time. You can see the owners take so much pride in every single thing they prepare and how they serve it. Really such a wonderful experience during a time when the real deal is hard to find. We’ll be back, weekly probably!

Oxtails were good. I’ve had better cabbages. Cornbread tasted like a sponge. I threw it out the window and it bounced. Mac n cheese was either overcooked, on the hot bar too long, or from a previous day. If I want Jamaican again I’ll just go to Tropical Taste.

I the curry goat was seasoned well but for $25.00 I had a plate of rice and bones as you can see in picture. Cabbages got too much going on but it’s seasoned well.
You should try every one has their own opinion.
