I visited this place for the first time last week. They did not disappoint. The atmosphere is very positive and lively with the island music they play. The food is very authentic and amazing! The prices are decent especially when considering the potions they give you. I have already talked someone else into trying this place soon. When I went I had the jerk chicken with black eyed peas and cabbage. The vegetables were good enough to be served by themselves! Definitely recommend to anyone wanting a different take on familiar food.

We drive at Werner and have been here twice. The food was fresh, delicious, and worth getting more than once. Everything has so much flavor! My teammate got the oxtail with curry potatoes and rice, and I got all veggies.

Customer service was very good. Acknowledged quickly and assisted shortly thereafter. Honestly I was more focused on some good oxtails over desiring Jamaican food. However I’ve learned that most Jamaican restaurants make excellent oxtails. I ordered oxtails with black eyed peas and yams. The peas were slap your momma good. The yams were good and flavorful. I like mine cooked a bit longer. The oxtails were tender and plentiful. I’m a country girl so a bit more seasoning would have pushed the rating to a 5. I recommended them to my brother and he visited later the same day. He really enjoyed his food. I’ll definitely visit again. Price was reasonable to me. Give them a try

I definitely had yesterdays food. Maybe I ordered when they first opened up.. or something! I ordered jerk, rice and peas and yams. The jerk is not jerk (it didn’t come with a sauce) and it’s basically grilled meat.. and it was DRY AS HELL and had zero flavor! LITERALLY! That honestly took me by surprise. I’m thinking maybe they depend on the sauce to add flavor (And I didn’t get a sauce). The rice was SHELLY, but maybe they ran out of coconut milk.. because it also had no flavor! Of course they did an amazing job on the yams! My Jamaican husband ordered curry chicken, rice and peas and yams. He threw the entire plate in the trash. He said it was simply a “A JOKE TING” !

As a truck driver it’s always a treat to have great ethnic restaurants near truck stops. The food was really good 8/10. If the rice (and peas) was not a bit undercooked, I could’ve easily given them a 9/10. The place was clean and I really appreciate that! The male staff member was very friendly immediately upon my arrival. The female staff member was not so friendly and never acknowledged me until I greeted her, then she actually became very nice and even went out of her way to make sure my order was correct! Oxtails were tender and delicious, cabbage was really good and the plantains were exceptionally good! Great job Tribe of Benjamin! Will return when I’m in the area again.

I’ve had Taste of Jamaica twice now. This restaurant is amazing. It has genuine hospitality and authentic Jamaican food. The meal was very flavorful. I had the jerk chicken, with rice & peas, and cabbage. I loved how smoky and spicy the grilled jerk chicken was, how grounding the rice & peas made me feel, and how perfectly steamed the cabbage was cooked. My experience was great!

Real Jamaican style food and a close enough atmosphere. They can improve on the authenticity of the spices and Jamaican jerk is done over WOOD fire not coal electric or gas. I appreciate the effort but it’s just not the same and never will be. I guess a true Jamaican jerk can only be found in Jamaica where the meat is done over pimento wood. Again your effort is appreciated but it’s just not the same.
