This is a small place on Market street in the middle of town. They had about 6 booths, a couple tables by the windows, and few larger tables for family seating. Definitely no frills, had a cluttered feel inside. Service was friendly, and came to take my order quickly. The place was pretty busy throughout my stay, lots of take out orders.
I grabbed an Arizona Iced Tea from the cooler they had out on the floor. It was cold.
Chips & Salsa!!!!
Nope not offered. They might have it on the menu, I wasn’t really looking for them.
I ordered torta milanesa de pollo.
The chicken was thin, juicy, and had good flavor. The bread was soft, beans, lettuce, mayo, and cheese really worked well together. Overall, I’d say a middle of the road torta. I think it had some cheddar cheese up in there from the look in the pics. It was terrible on the re heat. Make sure you eat it in one sitting.
I ordered tacos choosing tongue, shrimp, and the steak. I wasn’t impressed with the selections of meats that were available.
The tongue was marinaded in some kind of red sauce that made it really amazing. I could eat these tacos day. The tortillas were decent, double was a little much, and they could’ve used a little time on the flat top or grill. They were a bit sloppy. All of the tacos came with lettuce, pico, and guac. That’s how they came, again I wish I would’ve read the menu a bit more close.
The shrimp was solid, good flavor, cooked perfectly. I started eating the meat, skipping the tortilla at this point.
Steak had good flavor, was just a little chewy, and overcooked a bit.
I ordered the beef enchiladas. Ordered verde, got the red, didn’t really care because these puppies were outstanding!!! The shredded beef was marinaded with love, and each bite would melt in your mouth. The sauce, cheese, and tortillas melted along with the meat. I was very pleased.
The salad was a bit too much vinegar for meat.
Beans…soup consistency, yet good taste.
Rice…sticky and dry, but when mixed with the beans…forget about it. They complimented each other well when mixed together.
The inside is not much to look at, but is spotless, with fast, friendly service. Don’t let the small size of the place fool you-you’ll be seated quickly, and will have an amazing meal steaming in front of you within minutes. So yummy! Our new favorite place for fresh Mexican food!
Had the Beef Chimichanga and was one of the best I’ve had. Will definitely be back!
Update 10 months later- Chimichanga was even better than first time I came in. And free salsa and fresh chips. Just can’t beat the value for the quality or portions! Totally full and satisfied!
