At Jack’s, we draw on the tables and colour outside the lines. We live by our own code, not a dress code. And we’re not afraid to get a little dirty and eat with our hands, because frankly, we believe utensil etiquette can go fork itself. Jack’s is a place where oddballs and outsiders are welcomed in without judgement. So come as you are, be yourself, live free and have some kick ass chicken fingers and a fishbowl while you’re at it.

Jack’s Astor on Sankofa is a great option for those in the city center who want to enjoy happy hour or spend time with family and friends in a relaxed atmosphere, with sports on TV and themed drinks for each season (currently featuring a Christmas menu).

The restaurant is a good size, with tables of all sizes and bar service.

Entry is usually quick, but if you’re planning to go at night, especially at this time of year, it’s advisable to make a reservation.

The menu doesn’t have many options, but a recommendation is to order the poutine with lobster, as it’s simply incredible.

For customers with disabilities and reduced mobility, the restaurant has tables that accommodate walkers and wheelchairs. They also have adapted restrooms with grab bars and spring-loaded doors. The flooring throughout the premises is level, making it possible to walk around, although the number of tables makes it a little difficult. Unfortunately, they don’t have a menu in Braille, but the staff is ready to assist with orders.

For families with children, the place has a children’s menu and baby changing facilities in the restrooms.

If you are using public transport, simply get off at Sankofa; if you are driving, the building has paid parking.

It’s worth a visit.

We had our retirement party here for our beloved charge nurse! The staff were super nice and easy to coordinate with over email. And they were working hard to keep up with all the orders and people coming and going. The corner was perfect for mingling. I’m so grateful to them for hosting and accommodating us!

We were seated almost immediately but service could have been better. Maybe it was busy, I really couldn’t tell. The ambience was very nice and the food seemed okay. I’ll come again and I hope it’s better.

Stepped in for a couple of drinks on a Monday evening and it was pleasantly occupied with patrons and the patio was more so occupied.

We sat indoors and our handsome D’Maitre Ron aka Rounak was there to take care of our orders.

We asked for some lagers along with fried fish tacos and this was a good combination. The beers on tap were great, fresh and refreshing. The indoor decors are ok and could do better with a face lift.

However the bright spot was Ron who is a super friendly and warm guy and a Post-Graduate in Management Studies. You get his advice on what to order and what not to and this makes the evening more interesting.

Come one come all to Jack’s to be served by Ron and his team and enjoy that beer!

Everything was fantastic. Hanna was especially helpful. When she greeted us, she asked about our day and then conveyed that information to our server, which felt warm and personal. We came here from the spa. Silvia was our server. She was also great. She complemented my nails. I will definitely return.

100% recommend the sticky toffee pudding and bruschetta. Both are delicious. The holiday atmosphere is sort of overwhelming but at the same time a fun experience with the amount of decorations. The pasta leaves a little to be desired but service was excellent.

Group lunch, server was prompt friendly and got everything right. Food served quickly and as expected. People love the chicken tenders. They have a Hunters Chicken with veg and potatoes – it was really good.

The food I ordered was absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with a nice cold beer. I really loved the atmosphere of the place, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and surprisingly quick. The view from the patio overlooking Dundas Square adds something truly special to the experience. It’s the kind of spot where you can relax, enjoy great food, and take in the energy of downtown Toronto. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Service was top notch, food and drink served quickly but didn’t feel rushed. Food was great – loaded poutine, blue cheese buffalo chicken w/fries, and salmon. Also had garlic bread to start. Would recommend and would return.
