I went to Jack Cawthon’s Bar-B-Que in Nashville and ordered the brisket plate, and it was seriously good. The brisket was tender and flavorful with that perfect smoky taste you want from good barbecue. You could see the smoke ring and taste the seasoning in every bite.
The sides were just as good. The mac and cheese was creamy, the mashed sweet potatoes were buttery and smooth, and the cornbread was soft and sweet—honestly one of the best I’ve had in a while. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the portions were generous too.
The staff were friendly and quick, and the place had that relaxed Southern vibe that makes you want to sit down and take your time enjoying the food.
If you’re in Nashville and craving some real BBQ, Jack Cawthon’s is definitely worth a visit. That brisket plate hit the spot.

This is amazingly good, this is what true barbecue tastes like, with friendly staff and welcoming people in the neighborhood. I ordered the three-meat deal: brisket, ribs, and sausage, all excellent. My wife had the chicken, which was probably some of the tastiest and juiciest barbecue chicken we’ve had. Aside from the noisy neighbors, meaning a bunch of loud people coming in to drink heavily, it was a great place to be. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

My first meal in Nashville was truly unforgettable and worth remembering. The ribs and brisket were incredibly tasty — the brisket literally melted in my mouth. We ordered a three-meat combo, but because my throat wasn’t feeling well and my voice was low, I accidentally mixed up the order and didn’t get the ribs I wanted. After explaining this to the waiter, he generously gave me a whole box of ribs! Huge shoutout to his kindness.
Besides the meats, the Californian-style dip sauce was a delight to my taste buds. The chicken and pork were a bit dry but still flavorful. The beans and greens on the side complemented the meal perfectly. The price was reasonable, and on a Monday early evening, the whole restaurant was super quiet.

I had the pleasure of trying Jack Cawthon’s BBQ and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I ordered the 3 meats platter with brisket, sausage, and chicken, along with sides of cornbread, greens, and sweet potatoes. Every single bite was a hit!
The brisket was perfectly smoked and incredibly tender—some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the white BBQ sauce took it to another level—creamy, tangy, and just the right amount of kick. The sausage was also delicious and packed with smoky flavor.
Portions were very generous, and for the quality and amount of food, the price was more than fair. The sides were excellent too—especially the sweet potatoes and greens, which tasted like true Southern comfort food. The cornbread was moist and just slightly sweet, a great complement to the savory meats.

I was greeted right away, workers there were very friendly. I ended up talking to one guy about Da Bears since I was wearing my Bears hat and the game had just ended. The brisket I got was excellent as were the sauces I dipped it in. This place is conveniently located across the street from the Town and Suites by Marriott.

Absolutely the BEST Tennessee BBQ!!.. My husband & I are from out of town & ate here in the recommendation of a local gentleman. We ordered the 2 meat plate with the turkey & brisket. Sides we chose were sweet potatoes & BBQ beans. AMAZING!!

They were very friendly. The food was fresh. Only reason I give the food a four, was that my girlfriend thought the corn was a tad off. But everything else was fresh and delicious

Traveling here from Texas we were really wanting to find some good bbq. This place did not disappoint. First, you could smell the smoke from the actual wood they use upon entry. Meats had flavor and were moist. Larry was super helpful and hands down he provided the best customer service we’ve had since arriving three days ago. Run to this place and get you some good bbq and good sides too. Yams and greens (hubby had) were great!
