J.René Coffee Roasters is such a great spot! The vibe is warm and inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that makes it the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee. The coffee itself is excellent — rich, smooth, and clearly crafted with care. It’s definitely one of those places where you can taste the quality in every sip.
The only small thing to note is that parking can be a bit tricky, but once you’re inside, it’s absolutely worth it. A wonderful place to relax, meet friends, or just enjoy some really great coffee. Highly recommend!

Small and quaint coffee shop that has smaller and larger (8+/communal) tables as well as a couple outdoor spots. Menu is small but every thing is tasty! The coffee is so good that even as a creamer and sweetener person, I didn’t really need much!

Some of the highest quality coffee you will find. I no longer reside in CT, but thankfully they have a website and provide excellent mail order service. I remember when René opened this shoppe years ago. Very happy to see it’s still around and appears to be done very well.

We love visiting local roasters and coffee shops as we travel. J. Rene didn’t disappoint. The lattes were smooth and easy to drink. The atmosphere was delightful. We also grabbed a bag of coffee to take home and enjoy! If you are visiting the Hartford area definitely put this shop on your agenda!

This is my second time passing through this town trying J. René and it is still one of my favorite coffee places to go to. Coming from NYC I thought I had tried the best coffee selection already but J. René blew my mind! They are very professional and detailed on the coffee they present. This time I got the Israel Degefa (yeast proceased) and Sumatra (honey processed) to try at home! I strongly recommend their cold brew as it is very well balanced, no taste note is out performed than another. Taste is subjective but for me it is the best cold brew I’ve tasted so far!
