JPetal absolutely knocked it out of the park! I ordered a sushi bowl with sushi rice, spicy crab, avocado, and cream cheese, and it was hands-down one of the best sushi-style bowls I’ve had in a long time.
First off, the sushi rice was perfect—fluffy, seasoned just right, and not overdone. The spicy crab had the ideal balance of heat and flavor, not overpowering but bold enough to stand out in every bite. The avocado was fresh and creamy, and the cream cheese tied everything together, adding that rich, smooth finish that makes the bowl incredibly satisfying.
What really stood out was how fresh everything tasted. You can tell they care about quality ingredients and proper preparation. Every bite was consistent, flavorful, and well-balanced—nothing felt thrown together or rushed. Portions were generous, too, which made it an excellent value for the price.
The overall experience was just as good as the food. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the order came out quickly without sacrificing quality. This is the kind of place you crave again before you even leave.

Thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely want to come back! Everything was very fresh, quality, and large portioned. I had the Hawaiian poke bowl and it was so good. The tuna was excellent. We tried a strawberry popping boba and it was fantastic! My husband had the Js special savory crepe and it was messy/difficult to eat but had good flavors still.
The staff was very, very friendly. It takes a minute to prepare everything and you could tell they did not just slop things together to save time.

I was in Waco for work and wanted to try this restaurant for poke. It’s located near Baylor University and Carrie’s team spirit with various posters from the teams on campus. It was easy to order my meal and I asked for extra protein. A girl was hungry. I took my order to go and before I knew it the bowl was gone! It was delicious!!! I wanted more! It was quality salmon and tuna and fresh ingredients! It wasn’t spicy as advertised, I like heat, but it was very good and I highly recommend!

Harley was absolutely amazing with her customer service. She explained everything in great detail with this being our first experience here at the Hewitt location! She gave us great advice on building our bowls and they were phenomenal!!! The cleanliness, organization, and customer service is outstanding!!! Great job!!

Maybe it was an off night, but this was the slowest fast casual experience I have ever had. Restaurant was slow, less than 10 people, and it took us 40 minutes to get out food. Not sure if the issue was being understaffed, but there wasn’t any clear reason why we were left waiting for so long.
Food was so-so, but I couldn’t eat it. After a few bites it was clear that there was cross contamination. Thankfully, my shellfish allergy is mild, but it’s immediate enough for me to know when I’ve consumed shellfish.
Incredibly disappointed. I almost leave bad reviews, but this was an out of the ordinary experience.

Grabbed a BYO poke bowl for dinner after a hot round of disc golf. SO YUMMY! Definitely ate my fill for 20$ it was just enough to not have any remaining to throw away. Big backs may want to order double protein ♀️ i didnt try the ice cream but it looks intriguing

I’m in love! me and my family were in Waco and we were looking for a dinner place when we came across this place. When we came in they immediately greeted us and took our order, the food took a bit longer than we thought but that is expected since they were low staffed. When we got our food it was great my whole family got the bowls and everybody loved it, my one complaint is that they did not put enough sauce on our food but I believe that is most likely because they were quite busy. After we ordered the rolled ice cream for dessert and sat outside for that and it was amazing! Next time we are down here in Waco we are definitely coming back!:)

absolutely delicious! staff is great too! We had the Chicken Teriyaki bowl and BYOB tuna & spicy crab, washed it down with Mango Mojito and Pineapple Colada. Finished off with rolled ice cream because why not! Stayed full the whole day lol

Traveled to Waco for a tournament with my Mom – arrived the day before so decided to check out the local restaurants. Came across J-Petal and Poke. Mom loves seafood, I’m not a huge fan of it but they have chicken and beef options as well as a plethora of vegetarian and vegan options. Staff was super friendly, everything was really clean, and we didn’t wait long for food to come out. Definitely recommend!
