This is the best restaurant for a sit down dinner in downtown Silver Spring in my opinion. The chef driven menu it truly excellent and they have awesome happy hour deals including $1 raw oysters. I’m a huge fan of the ranch water summer crush cocktail. Great place for a private party or group dinner because they have good spaces for large and small groups. It’s known for excellent steaks but I’m more of a veg and seafood girl and I always find things I love. My husband is wild about the duck. Definitely going to have to try it for brunch.

Great service at the bar 2x. Once for a quick lunch and a burger after reading Bethesda magazine raving about their fries. They were good and the GM & Chef who are actually brothers were very kind. I went back for dinner and enjoyed the shrimp cocktail with a tasty cocktail sauce, steak frites which I was given a chance to match with a sauce. I ended with an awesome peach crisp. I am glad to see Silver Spring expand their restaurant offering. I should mention my daughter had her prom night dinner here and they were very good to her. Lots of wonderful menu items to select from.

Went here for my birthday celebration with some friends and family, atmosphere was great, overall the food was good, could have used a touch more seasoning on the Lamb Chops and Steak, but I was happy. I wish I could remember our servers name (he was a little older, could be Italian) anyways he was really awesome, knew when to come to the table or let us be. He was attentive and funny. Loved that they were in no rush for us to leave. He definitely enhanced the experience.

Definitely recommend! Completely renovated. I remember this location as Rays but this chophouse definitely lives up to its past tenant. The food was delicious, the wine options abundant, and the ambiance was great. Our server was also very attentive. Highly recommend!

I’m glad we have many nice restaurants to choose from in downtown Silver Spring, J. Hollinger’s being a great addition to that list. We decided to try out this place during Restaurant Week and overall the food, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. Our waiter, Jaime, was awesome and we will definitely be going back when we have a night out in town.
