We tried some jambalaya and crawfish cheese dip with nachos. Both were delicious. Service was very hospitable. We were told we could try samples ahead of time, and we did.

The food is amazing. I got the hot Buffalo chicken dish, and it has the perfect amount of spice and flavor. The cornbread is perfect,it isn’t dry, and it’s more fine than regular cornbread. I had an awesome experience and will definitely be back to try the deserts.

I had lunch at J. Gumbo’s today. I had the intention of having some Bourbon Chicken and have room for Cobbler when I was done. I LOVE Cobbler. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to the Cobbler today. I’m going to have to make a special trip just for dessert I guess. The Bourbon Chicken was good, the restaurant was very clean and the staff was very aware if I needed anything. If you are trying to figure out what to have for lunch or dinner, give them a try. They serve the kind of food that is not on your “regular rotation” and that’s a great thing. PLEASE don’t be afraid of Cajun food, it doesn’t need to be extra spicy but, if you like that, J. Gumbo’s will help you in the right direction. If you like a more mild meal they’ve got you covered too. Too sum it up, good food, served in a friendly atmosphere, by great people.

Good food but I called ahead 25 minutes because I had my dog and it was hot. When I went in there was one couple in front of me. I said I had a carry out and the guy said he had been to busy. It probably takes less that 60 seconds to toss some rice and some gumbo in a bowl and put a lid on it. Also they advertise poboys and wraps but when I called he said they sold neither. My 2nd and last time going there.

Oh my, J Gumbos is the best! Their service goes above and beyond. And if you haven’t tried their food, you must. It is fabulous..full of flavor and never dull. And if you have a problem, they are there to see to it. Cajun dishes, sweet cornbread, cobblers…try them!!!

Just had the crawfish etouffee. The people were nice, the parking was stupid, the place is super plain, they offer all the extras as if they come with it making your $9.50 bowl cost $13. None of that would matter if the food was good. It is not. Flavorless Cajun food must be hard to make. With enough hot sauce, it tasted like a spicy bowl of spaghetti-os. I left, still hungry, looking for somewhere else close by to eat.

Ordered the Crawfish Etouffée. Was very bland. Had to season it with my own creole spices when I got home. Fruit cobbler was edible so I give the experience 1 star. Unless their roux is just bad and everything else is good I might try them again. But after that I’m extremely hesitant.
