The food is excellent! The restaurant was clean and the decor was nice. The bread pudding is the best! I do enjoy eating here, but I think the price is high for meal. For Zydeco chicken over brown rice, bread pudding, and water to drink was $11.85 with a military discount. Chicken and rice are inexpensive ingredients. I only saw one bottle of hot sauce in the whole restaurant. Ill eat here again and I’d recommend it, but I wouldn’t spend 50 bucks to bring my family here.

I don’t care for Cajun type food, but the Drunkin Chicken over white rice was pretty tasty and the bowl was a nice size. The garlic bread was really good.

Clean, friendly, and fast. Good customer service with good food that’s true to its theme. Price is a probably a little high. Plan to spend 9 for a bowl of gumbo with no add-ins and a water. All in all solid place to get a fast but good meal.

This place is fantastic… all of their cajun dishes are delicious from mild to spicy. They have a home made bread pudding that will knock your socks off. I wish I worked closer to eat there more often. Don’t pass it up if you see it…. yum yum!

This place is usually really good. We get the gumbo. Last time we went the guy was making up my order and I noticed there were hardly any sausages in it. I asked if he could pick out some and put them with my order. He proceeded to skim some more liquid in my order. I tried to correct him nicely but was told he would have to charge me for an extra order of food. I told him all I wanted was the sausage that was supposed to come with it. He ignored me and took my order to check out. I opened my to go box only to find literally 3 pieces of sausages! I went back to the front and explained the situation only for the guy to insist I wasn’t telling him the truth! He said he “knows” there were more sausage. Then when asked him to look for himself, he acted like I picked all the sausage out and ate them!!!!! I was so irritated that we just left. The guy kept cutting me off when I was trying to explain it to him…. so rude!! I will NOT be back. This was the one in Jacksonville AR

I wish I could do no stars. I’ve been into J.Gumbos one another time. But after tonight will be the last night I bring them my business. They are advertising a bowl of Gumbo “special” to $6.99. I received a bowl of gumbo and a fountain drink and paid $12.03… This makes absolutely no sense to me. You aren’t even a gourmet gumbo place or anything upscale. The gumbo flavor tasted like dirt. I’m very disgusted. Also disgusted with the fact that you guys wanted to offer me a refund of .56 cents because that makes every bit of sense.

Ever since this place opened when I was in high school, I frequently ate there. Im not even going to lie, I skipped school to just get a bowl of their food! The people who run as well as own it are very passionate in their business for sure have the best restaurant in Jacksonville, hands down!

The food here is great! It is filling and tasty without being ‘too’ much of anything. There are plenty of options for each spice level, so you don’t have to settle. I had the Bumble Bee Stew mixed with the today’s special (Zydeco Chicken), it had a bit of spice for me (but I’m almost a wimp, take it for what it is). When I came they offered me samples, which I was REALLY thankful for; the entree I thought I would love wasn’t even one of my favorites! You also have the option to choose white or brown rice, which is great, if you want to pretend you’re being healthy. If you’re in the area, you’ve got to try it! Then you’ll see how much you love it and how far you’d travel to get it.

The staff is always so friendly here, especially if you’re not sure what to get or what type of spice you want. I ended up going with a combination of the voodoo chicken and the bumblebee(?? sorry I forgot what it was called) over po-boy bread. Absolutely amazing! Has enough kick to it but without overburning my mouth.
