Excellent food and setting, but on the pricey side.
Izumi Restaurant is a beautiful Japanese restaurant with a calm, refined atmosphere and a very pleasant setting. The design and ambiance make it a great place for a relaxed dinner or a special occasion.
The food quality is excellent. The salmon is very fresh and well prepared. Sushi and hand rolls are generous, balanced, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Overall, the execution is refined and consistent.
That said, it is quite pricey. Expect to spend around Rs 2,000 per person (we were a group of 5), and the set menu is Rs 2,800. Previously, some of the set menus included beef, which felt like better value. Unfortunately, there is now no set menu with beef, and it is only available as an add-on at Rs 1,500, which significantly increases the bill.
They also offer hot pot options at Rs 1,500, and around Rs 1,750 for seafood, which in my opinion is on the expensive side for what is offered.
Service is professional and attentive, and the overall experience remains very enjoyable, thank you to our waiter Brandon.
However, since it is a teppanyaki restaurant, i would expect a teppanyaki show. Instead we were seated outside with no show even if i ordered a set menu and my friends ordered a bunch of sushi to share. It used to be great entertainment when the previous Chefs interacted with the clients.
Izumi is a great choice for quality Japanese cuisine in a beautiful setting, but it’s best suited for those who are comfortable with higher-end pricing.

Just wow!! Hands down the best food in Mauritius! And we have eaten almost everywhere. The food was unreal, everything was made to perfection. From the sushi down to the cheesecake (best I had ever eaten). The staff are absolutely incredible, so professional, so kind, so polite, every single one of them. Jeff is the best waiter we have come across on the island. And the chef just makes magic in the kitchen. We are also so excited to book for the teppanyaki table next time, they just looked like they were having a blast! They truly make it so special and enjoyable. The views and the restaurant are also so aesthetically pleasing.

One of the best restaurants i’ve visited lately. The food was delicious and really enjoyed their sushis. One of the best part of my experience was the live cooking show performed by Chef Paul which was mesmerizing. A special appreciation for Jeff as well who provided a perfect service.

Izumi has some of the best sushi I’ve had—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every roll tasted spot-on, and the quality really stood out. What made the experience even better was the excellent service. Jeff was attentive, welcoming, and genuinely kind, making sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend Izumi for sushi lovers!

Quite disappointed by our experience there this time and not planning to go back anytime soon. The sushis used to be one of the best on the island, not anymore. The food is pricier but the quality has significantly dropped. The shrimp was okay but nothing special. The wagyu was pleasant texture wise but incredibly lacks taste. The tori ramen was the only thing worth the money. The pina colada was good.

I recently visited Izumi Restaurant with my family and had a delightful experience. The food was delicious, albeit a bit on the expensive side but it’s okay for special occasions. The service was very good, and we felt very comfortable throughout our meal.
I ordered a seafood noodle soup, which was flavorful and quite filling. My parents chose an assortment of seafood and a steak, which was both served with a unique fried rice that included peppers and other vegetables, giving it a distinct taste.
The ambiance of Izumi is wonderful, with a nice view and a very airy, comfortable space. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to returning someday.
