I’m glad they participated in the Vegan Chef Challenge. This sweet spot is within Hodge Podge. The house is quirky and inviting. The service was exceptional.
The food had a beautiful presentation but just was okay in taste (a friend said that the fried noodles were super tasty).

Very lovely place. It has the heart of home-made meals with the professionalism of highly rated restaurants. It is the closest thing to the izakayas I went to in Tokyo. Highly recommend.

There’s no restaurant sign outside, so don’t waste time wandering around. Just look for the bookstore sign, go inside, and you’ll find the restaurant on the second floor. The bookstore runs a café, and this place operates almost like a pop‑up inside that space. There are tables on both the first and second floors, and you simply sit down, scan the barcode in front of you, and place your order. They bring the food out once it’s ready. The menu isn’t extensive, but the dishes are neatly prepared and presented. Since it takes a bit of time for the food to come out, it’s nice to browse the bookstore while you wait.
Overall, the food is decent, though I wish it had a bit more of a flavor kick. The space isn’t very large and feels somewhat tight, but it has a cozy atmosphere. I ended up sitting at the bar to enjoy my meal.

Izakaya MOMO is one of my favorite Eugene spots! Momo is super friendly and her ever evolving menu is so tasty and comforting. Stopping by Hodgepodge while Izakaya MOMO is open has become a weekend ritual.

Japanese food and snacks in a bookstore? Yes please! This charming little Izakaya has simply delicious food. Love the onigiri and gyoza. Great options for vegetarians and vegans. Very kid friendly – my daughters adore the food. Quick service and incredibly reasonable prices. And the sweetest owner ever! Love this place so much.

Momo is like a walking ray of sunshine! As someone who works in the same building, I see how hard she works to create such a wonderful culinary experience. I’ve tried just about everything, and I can genuinely recommend all I’ve tried. Plus, the ambience is cozy and kind.

Never been to the establishment before. Luckily the kind ladies behind the bar let me know what to do, which is to find an open seat, (more seating up the stairs by the door) scan the QR code, and your food will be brought out to you. Did just that, ordered the edamame, teriyaki chicken skewers and the yakisoba. Everything was delicious! The yakisoba had what I am assuming was pickled red onions? They added just the right kick on top of the umami of the noodles. So good! Edamame was delicious as well. Would have liked a touch more salt, but thats just personal preference. The chicken skewers wer really good. The white sauce they had on the side of the plate made it something special. Will definitely recommend and return!

This place is a gem, and it’s such a unique spot in Eugene: how often do you get to eat delicious Japanese bites in a cozy bookstore? Momo is warm and thoughtful as a host and chef. Can’t wait to see what comes out of her kitchen next!
