I’m not sure why the ratings aren’t higher, those were some of the best tacos al pastor I’ve ever had. It was quick, only $2 a taco, came with green salsa and a hot sauce. Pork was flavorful and juicy. Delicious.

Ixtapa in New Haven is one of my favorite places for authentic Mexican food! The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is always kind and attentive, and the food is absolutely delicious. Everything tastes fresh and full of flavor. The portions are generous, and the drinks are amazing too! I always leave happy and satisfied. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great Mexican food in New Haven!

Went on a Sunday, it wasn’t too busy. The customer service was great and didn’t take long to get our food. We ordered steak street tacos and birria tacos with Pina coladas. The drinks were good and refreshing! However the food didn’t have much authentic Mexican flavor! Birria tastes like nothing tbh, the consomé (birria broth) was very oily no flavor. No onions, cilantro, or limes given on the side either. The birria tacos were also not crispy so they ended up falling apart. 2/10 experience for me. Will definitely be trying another truck the next time we got to New Haven!

Just went to the food truck, burnt is really a good flavor, not sure why they thought that burning the chicken on the torta would be a good idea, regardless. We got tacos as well, not seasoned, and kind of had a bland taste. Lucky for anyone visiting this area, you have other options. Don’t waste your time with this one
