The food was so good and the bartender was the nicest, prettiest person in Fairbanks. I went back twice. I loved it. The potato skins were humongous and so was the king crab. I tried some local beers and they were great and it really felt like home. The next time I’m in Fairbanks, I will be back!

I stumbled upon Ivory Jack’s on my way back to Fairbanks after a magical visit to Running Reindeer Ranch—and I’m so glad I did. As an out-of-towner, it immediately struck me as a beloved local favorite, and it’s easy to see why.

They had king crab on special at market price, and when in Rome—or Alaska—you say yes. The crab was fresh and flavorful, and paired perfectly with some cold beers and genuinely friendly, fast service. It felt like the kind of place where everyone knows each other but newcomers are still warmly welcomed.

If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. The only reason I’m knocking off a point is that the vibe could use a little sprucing up—some of the decor and layout feels a bit dated—but honestly, that might just add to its charm. There’s an authenticity here that’s hard to fake.

Bottom line: great food, welcoming service, and a true local gem. Worth the stop.

Great atmosphere! I love the memorabilia all over the place- so much to look at and it had a truly alaskan frontier feel! I forget my servers name but she was super friendly and took great care of me. I’d been craving a good cheeseburger and fries so I gave it a shot. The fries were delicious- hand cut steak fries, I believe. I always ask for them crispy and they delivered! My cheeseburger, however, was just average. Cooked well but bland and dry. It just didn’t have any flavor or juicyness that I was hoping for. Too bad. I’d still go back to try some other menu items that looked tempting, and for the great service and surroundings. I’d recommend it for those reasons as well!!

Visiting Fairbanks Alaska…. this place is awful must. Its a little out of town but worth the drive. We had the fried halibut, Potato skins, Alaskan King Crab, and the chocolate cake. You may notice the cake in the to-go box because we were absolutely stuffed. The restaurant has a good vibe, friendly staff, and good food. What else would you want.

We are from Los Angeles and Ivory Jacks was recommended to us. Some reviewers describe it as out of the way or out of town, but considering we are used to LA traffic (going 5 miles means a 30 minute drive), it seemed close for us.

We absolutely loved the place. The interior had so much history posted everywhere—a row of baseball caps above the bar (I can only guess they belonged to beloved patrons), newspaper clippings of life stories of those who recovered from an illness or married, plaques honoring Ivory Jack’s for their contribution to the community, and yes, tons of NY Yankees love everywhere, on the ceiling, walls, and in the air. Great spot to watch sports too with many TVs. There were lots of locals hanging out at the bar and by 5:30 on a Monday there wasn’t a bar stool left. The locals were so friendly to one another, sharing lots of laughs.

The menu is full of comfort food. We really enjoyed the crab stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms were fresh! They took 20 minutes to make and were delicious. It was our favorite. Some of the food was a bit on the greasy side, but we were the ones who ordered greasy food (onion rings, garlic bread). We were surprised by the steak fries that came with the burger. It was from fresh potatoes, hand cut, not from a bag. That was special. The drinks were strong and they didn’t flinch when we ordered cocktails and not beers (seemed to be the drink at the bar). I still can’t get over the lack of tax in AK. What you see is what you pay (mind-blown) and our bill was well below $100 for 5 cocktails, a dozen crab stuffed mushrooms with garlic bread, an order of rings, a soda, and a burger with steak fries.

For fun: Look closely at the Ivory Jacks sign outside, there’s a parking meter on top.

In sum: a great place to immerse yourself in the local vibe and watch sports, with great comfort food, authentic people, and a come-as-you-are feel.

Everything is great about this place besides its burgers. I paid 20+ for a burger patty that looked and tasted like it came from a middle school cafeteria. It gave the consistency of meat loaf. It had that artificial glaze/cook to it.

Their other food is great and the staff and atmosphere is really good! Jalapeño Poppers were top tier- and really affordable! You could tell they used real cream cheese !

Great pub in the middle of nowhere. Great atmosphere and the food is typical pub food but done well. The service was attentive but not invasive, all round a.very good night. Drinks were a generous pour.

Went there with a group of 6 people, the food was hit and miss. It took 1 hour and 10 min from the time we sat down till the food was served.
I ordered the tomato soup which was the same as a pasta sauce which it was thick, and not like soup at all.
The steak sandwich was delicious.
The garlic bread with cheese was hard as a rock and didn’t taste good.
The service was slow and we had to ask for drinks to be refreshed 3 times. They didn’t bring the waters we asked for at all.
Not worth the trouble to get out there, not worth the calories.
Thought the new owners would make it better. Maybe I will try again in a year or so. If going to drinks sit at the bar, but you will still be waiting for a refill.

This is such a fun restaurant!
I hadn’t been since I was a kid and we decided to go last minute.
Food was quick- service was friendly and fun.
The food is OUTSTANDING- and the service was just as good!!
We had the best time and this is definitely one of my new favorites. 10/10
The drive was not long out of town- and it’s beautiful where it’s located.

We walked outside to leave and saw the aurora- right in front of their door.
Couldn’t recommend this place enough!
