We love to try the new stuff that hits the menu, recently it was the coconut shrimp and sweet chili sauce and it was so delicious and satisfying. This is a good location, its clean and tidy always. The staff is very friendly and helpful, this is a great lunch spot.

I got my wife a 5 piece Cajun fish and chips and myself the 2 pc fish and shrimp taco. The total came out to about 30$. The fish and chips are tiny. They are all delicious, but so tiny. I feel it’s a bit too expensive for the amount of food we got.

Always a solid experience at this Ivar’s location. The staff are consistently friendly, the place is clean, and the food delivers every time. I was starving today, so I went big—a double, a cup of chowder, and clams ‘n chips to-go for my dad. Everything hit the spot. I’ve been going to Ivar’s in Seattle since I was a kid, so it’s great having a dependable spot here in Tacoma when I need my fix but can’t make the trip north. This location holds its own—glad it’s here.

Ivar’s Seafood Bar deserves a solid 5 stars! The staff was incredibly helpful and made our visit memorable. The music selection was a delightful blast from the past, featuring Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, and even “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” These classics added a fantastic touch to the atmosphere. And let’s not forget the highlight – the 4 piece Salmon and chips were not just delicious but simply outstanding. A fantastic dining experience!

Long time Ivar’s James Center patron. Went through the drive through this evening around 630 PM. Ordered two fish sandwiches, salmon platter and chowder. Received no receipt in bag. Drove 8 minutes to get home. All food was lukewarm, including sandwich, salmon and chowder. Fries weren’t hot at all. Limp and greasy. If I were the PC Health Department, I’d pay a random visit with a thermometer. I really love Ivar’s James Center, but I will think twice about going again. Sadly, it appears quality and service isn’t what it has been for so many years. Please do better or risk losing business. Not good when Ivar’s is planning to open in Gig Harbor.
