It’s Greek to Me in Plainview is my new obsession.
The food is straight-up delicious: gyros dripping with tzatziki, souvlaki that actually tastes grilled, spanakopita so flaky it should be illegal. Everything fresh, generous portions, and somehow still reasonably priced.
But let’s talk about the real MVP: the Greek coffee.
Holy caffeine, Batman. One tiny cup and I’m vibrating at a frequency only dogs can hear. It’s thick, strong, and so good I’d fight a minotaur for it. Best coffee on Long Island, no contest.
Staff is super friendly too. Go hungry, leave happy (and wired for sound). ☕

Amazing Authentic Greek Food In Syosset on Jackson Ave! I found this place while at an appointment in the area and it was phenomenal! The Chicken gyro was so juicy! I absolutely loved the best! The Tzatziki sauce is made fresh it is simply amazing and the pita bread is home made it tastes like it was made in Greece. This is small quaint beautiful place in a shopping center that takes pride in their culture and heritage, it shows as you step in. I love it! ️Family run..Kathy and John are great people extremely nice, funny and accommodating. The lunch specials are a great deal. I understand from John they are going strong since 1985 that’s incredible I am so glad I found them..better late than never. I will be back again!

Loved this place! The family – yes it’s truly a family business – was so friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious – and a bonus rice pudding to top it off at the end of the night! Delicious ! And we got some great travel tips – we’re looking forward to seeing the island recommended – Lefkada. If I could give this place 6+ stars I would!

Let me start off by telling you this lil fact about this place, THE ABSOLUTE BEST GYROS ON LONG island…. 100%!!! I just happen to fall onto this place during the beginning of Covid… I unfortunately bank at the place Next-door… And this was during the time when only a certain amount of people were allowed in to an establishment at a time. So while I had to wait my turn in my car, I decided to get something to eat, and long and behold “it’s Greek to me” just happened to be the restaurant I was parked in front of. So I thought to myself, “self you like gyros, why not try one from here?!?“ LOL when I went up to the window, I was greeted with such a huge smile and a friendly face… And during that time a friendly face was what everybody needed. I soon came to learn her name is Stephanie, the daughter of the owner John, Who is also the most talented cook in the back… And his wife Cathy who is also very accommodating and extremely welcoming! But anyway… I can go on and on about this restaurant, it’s clean, their customer service is impeccable, they are extremely accommodating and friendly, and their food?!? The best lamb… soft and succulent… Delectable in every way… Their tahini sauce you can tell me is homemade and as cliché as it may sound made with love and made with that Greek love… Everything on that menu is Beyond delicious… I honestly think I only keep my accounts at that terrible bank next-door because of this place, because every time I drive nine exits on the 135 I always make it a point to stop here and pick up lunch or dinner for me and my family!!! LOL I highly recommend it’s great to me restaurant in Syosset to anyone and everyone! They will not disappoint you, in fact they will exceed every expectation you have, I guarantee it! They definitely have exceeded all of mine and they still continue to! I applaud you John, Cathy, and Stephanie! Me and my family will never go to another place for a Gyro ever again because the real gyros come from here!!!
