It is the type of restaurant that you want to keep coming back to over and over again. I cannot recommend It’s a Utica Thing enough!
The place has a nice atmosphere. Restrooms clean. Bar was active.
Our waitress was very pretty. But service was poor. She described the specials as very good but no price or description. She never asked if we wanted a drink. Had to ask twice for a takeout container.
We both ordered chicken riggies because folks raved about the homemade pasta.
It is not our favorite riggie dish at all. These wouldn’t crack the top 10. The sauce wasn’t creamy at all. Peppers were good. Very few pieces of chicken. The serving size was meager as well, we normally see much larger portions. The chicken had an odd coating. The meal was $20 and came without a salad or bread. Although there was a bread plate on the table.
Honestly, our waitress should seek another line of work.
We won’t be back. Utica has loads of better places to dine.
Two stars for food and service. Three stars for atmosphere.
Do NOT let the bland exterior fool you or deter you from eating here. Inside of its nondescript exterior lies this hidden Italian gem that evokes the famous Italian eateries of Little Italy and Brooklyn – but at a fraction of the price you pay in NYC.
A modern, classy theme permeates the interior of this authentic, family-run joint, and puts you at ease while ordering a cocktail or beer.
Their pasta is homemade and their sauce is tangy yet robust; a perfect combination. Chicken parm is a staple and cooked to perfection while the white pizza has a delicate touch to it that belies its simplicity.
A cannoli for dessert will help round out a meal you’ll be happy you ate while looking forward to the next visit.
I never thought I’d find such a great Italian restaurant in this neck of the woods, but make no mistake: It’s a Utica Thing! Plays its part to perfection.
Visit. Eat. Be Happy. Come Again…
Ordered family style Vodka Riggies & pizza (pizza was fine) – pasta was not riggies. It was dry- not spicy, no vodka sauce. My kids could have made this home. Disappointed next time would rather drive further out then ever order from here again. Called right after too- they made excuses.
