It’s a Utica Thing is an amazing restaurant that offers delectable food, affordable prices, and an amazing atmosphere. The chicken parm and calamari is spectacular! I highly recommend purchasing the marinara sauce to share the exquisite flavors with your friends and family.

It is the type of restaurant that you want to keep coming back to over and over again. I cannot recommend It’s a Utica Thing enough!

First time here. Not impressed at all.
The place has a nice atmosphere. Restrooms clean. Bar was active.
Our waitress was very pretty. But service was poor. She described the specials as very good but no price or description. She never asked if we wanted a drink. Had to ask twice for a takeout container.
We both ordered chicken riggies because folks raved about the homemade pasta.
It is not our favorite riggie dish at all. These wouldn’t crack the top 10. The sauce wasn’t creamy at all. Peppers were good. Very few pieces of chicken. The serving size was meager as well, we normally see much larger portions. The chicken had an odd coating. The meal was $20 and came without a salad or bread. Although there was a bread plate on the table.
Honestly, our waitress should seek another line of work.
We won’t be back. Utica has loads of better places to dine.
Two stars for food and service. Three stars for atmosphere.

U-tica? U-BETCHA!!

Do NOT let the bland exterior fool you or deter you from eating here. Inside of its nondescript exterior lies this hidden Italian gem that evokes the famous Italian eateries of Little Italy and Brooklyn – but at a fraction of the price you pay in NYC.

A modern, classy theme permeates the interior of this authentic, family-run joint, and puts you at ease while ordering a cocktail or beer.

Their pasta is homemade and their sauce is tangy yet robust; a perfect combination. Chicken parm is a staple and cooked to perfection while the white pizza has a delicate touch to it that belies its simplicity.

A cannoli for dessert will help round out a meal you’ll be happy you ate while looking forward to the next visit.

I never thought I’d find such a great Italian restaurant in this neck of the woods, but make no mistake: It’s a Utica Thing! Plays its part to perfection.

Visit. Eat. Be Happy. Come Again…

Staff was great- quality of food is not there.
Ordered family style Vodka Riggies & pizza (pizza was fine) – pasta was not riggies. It was dry- not spicy, no vodka sauce. My kids could have made this home. Disappointed next time would rather drive further out then ever order from here again. Called right after too- they made excuses.

Very surprised. Expected another overrated Italian restaurant. Server/bartender awesome. Ambience was just perfect with lighting and music. Wings cooked perfect. Pizza, great sauce but undercooked. Layer of uncooked dough on top. Wine is reasonable

Honestly it was simply delicious. I’m not from the area so for the place I felt it was a little pricey. But… I can’t deny it was the BEST chicken parm I ever had hands down. Eating out any where is over priced these days you might as well pay for the best. I’d do it again n again n again

The place is decorated beautifully and the service was amazing. The food is another story. We were served a cup of separated Alfredo with the beautifully cooked calamari. The chicken Riggins were very plain comparison to others I’ve tried (and believe me if they are on the menu I try them). The sausage pizza was amazing tho. I would say good place for pizza but not a fancy dinner.

Came for our daughter’s 27th birthday last night, food was delicious especially the smash burger special with truffle and Swiss!! Waitstaff were very attentive and sweet even bringing her a birthday cannolli with a candle. The place is tastefully decorated and modern, drinks were delicious and we will be back for sure

One of, if not the best places in Utica. My girlfriend and I have came a bunch of times and always had Mia and Hannah as our bartender/ server and they have made our experience enjoyable every time. One of the chefs, Vinny, has come out a few times to make sure we had a good meal and every single time it amazing. You can’t go wrong with anything you get on the menu and they accommodate anytime they can. Will be coming back for many years!

Some pretty good food here. Bright clean atmosphere and a fun and friendly staff. The greens were damn good, maybe close to Georgios? I tried everything at the table and everything was tasty: riggies, lasagna and chicken parm. The bar looked well stocked so I need to go back with friends and have a few drinks. The only reason for 4 stars was the music which was oddly loud, otherwise it was a great experience
