There are several Italian Pizzerias in Durham and when I google search for that name, the others pop up and I have to dig to find this location. That’s a bummer because this means they arent getting the traffic they deserve. Their 2 cheese slice lunch combo is reminiscent of decades back with all the right qualities. Slices are actually NY style in taste, texture, size and price! $6.50 for 2 slice cheese combo + fountain drink. I openrd the box to find what I used to expect as my slice size before prices went up and portions got smaller. The service was fantastic, food hot and so delicious. I find myself going out of my way to patronize this business. They are hitting all the marks, but not getting the love. They’ve earned my business!

This place is a gem!!! The owner is personable – I’ve made a friend in him, I genuinely enjoy catching up with him. The atmosphere is cozy and pretty cool.
And the best part….THE FOOD! The food is amazing! It’s authentic. It’s delicious! The flavor is robust!

The best pizza ever! Whether you get the Sicilian or the napolitan it’s perfect. Just wish it was in a better neighborhood. But that won’t stop me. The booths are a little tight to fit in so keep that in mind if you plan on dining in. But my goodness, that pizza is still on my mind and I want to go back tomorrow already. The prices are very reasonable and the owners are very nice.

I’ve only had the pleasure of visiting this place twice. My first experience, i did have to wait a little time for my order and i wasn’t sure of where to go to place my order. Today was my second time and it was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!!! I do understand that i arrived at opening and i would have appreciated being told “ there will be a wait”. INSTEAD after ordering and waiting EXACTLY 3 MINUTES i received DAY OLD PIZZA. The staff BERATED my family and I after we requested a new pizza. Another customer decided to cancel their order after the staff THREATENED to call the police on us. The toppings were thrown on the pizza and there is grated cheese SPRINKLED on top. For “COMPENSATION” i was given a medium INCORRECT for free when i received my order leading me to know, something was wrong. New York style pizza is my favorite but unfortunately i won’t be getting it from here again. $13 for 3 slices of pizza.

I ordered online from their website . I was able to pay online. It let me know how long it would take and they will text you when your order is ready for pick up. It was fast and easy and they gave me a slice of lemon pound cake that was very good along with my order.

I didnt finish the cheese steak sandwich I purchased. That location is just scary. When an establishment has to post. “No guns allowed on premisis.” It may be time to rethink your location. I gave an extra star because It’s good to see a local business trying to offer consistent service. The priceing meets the needs of the immediate community, but 50 people hanging out in front of the store in the middle of the day, with seemingly nothing else to do reflects the reason the quality of the food offering seems to have gone down. The community also should cherish the owners efforts to operate by patronizing their business hero’s as opposed to loitering about.

I purchased two (2) Cheesesteak Specials at the Village Italian Pizza yesterday for $19.35. They were horrible. A greasy mouthful of mushrooms, and very little meat on a 6″, 8″ roll. A chessy, greasy mushroom sandwich. Yikes!
I like this place, as many Durham residents do, but this was a bust. The Cook got this totally wrong.
Take item off menu if supplies are scarce or too costly, or you don’t know how to prepare it WELL, for a customer. I felt like this was just thrown together for a quick buck, because people will eat anything, right? Wrong.
The customer service is great and the atmosphere is great
