ISSAS Venezuelan Restaurant & Bar – Bartlett, IL
ISSAS Venezuelan Restaurant and Bar is a great spot right in the heart of Bartlett’s town center. The space is ample and welcoming, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. Service is friendly and attentive. The empanadas are flavorful and well-prepared, and the pastelitos are just as good—perfectly crispy and tasty. A solid choice for authentic Venezuelan bites in a great location.

This was our first visit and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent and the gentleman who seemed to be either the owner or manager was so attentive. He explained everything on the menu and made great recommendations. They had a mixed grilled meat special that had the best pork belly and ribs we have had in recent memory. And the empanadas were perfectly fried and crispy, and the arepas were some of the best I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back!

This time I will review this place not satisfactory cause this plantains with cheese (tajadas con quesos) are not even close for what I was looking for, I payed 9$ for this joke of plantain and the cheese was poor in quantity, the rest of my food was good.

Ambiance is nice, place is clean, service was good, portions are decent.

There’s a bit of a language barrier with the lady who took out order.
Really, really enjoyed these mini cheesestick type items that had a sweet taste to the breading. I’d go back for that alone.
Little potato paddy with cheese on it were yummy as well.
These 2 items 12/10. Just made my mouth happy.

I bought several of the appetizer samples to try a bunch of different things.

Nothing was gross at all. Overall wasn’t a fan in how they seasoned their chicken items, a solid 5/10 for flavor on the chicken. About average to me.

Will go back for the 2 items listed above and maybe try some other items.

Issa’s is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Issa is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Amazing empanadas. Must come back. 10/10.

They say nothings ever like the first time and this place seemed to follow that Ideal. Initially I was searching for that authentic South American cuisine, full of flavor and cultural detail. My first time going there I felt as if I have found that, but a few times later it seemed as if the quality was lacking. The original flare I once tasted was gone, food seemed rushed and missing that effort to create a top notch dish. The food was bland and some items a little over cooked. The one thing that did seem to keep it’s original flavor were the empanadas but that was simply an appetizer. I think this place has the potential to be a unique delicacy, but I feel like businesses that start getting popularity forget their original mission…to make great food that you won’t forget. If you happen to be in the area I’d still recommend checking them out since there aren’t many Venezuelan restaurants around, however I hope they bring back that original flare.

This was my first time trying Venezuelan food & it did not disappoint! It was fresh, delicious & tasted very comforting. I returned a week later after craving their arepas. We will be back to try more dishes.

100% recomending this restaurant!

We ordered cachapas with cheese. These are a corn totilla with the best melted cheese ever!
Mar y Cielo means sea and earth, which are clam, octopus, shrimp, and beef, along with fried casaba and French fries.

The empanadas are to die for, super filled and crunchy. Big size, too.

And please let me not forget the papelon con limón meaning unrefined cane sugar with lime juice. Amazing!!!

Beautiful service and being Venezuelan myself, I feel at home right away.

The service of the waiters, the food, and the restaurant are excellent. But several times I’ve gone there to eat, there’s a woman wearing glasses at the register, whose attitude and manners are not at all pleasant. She definitely doesn’t like her job or doesn’t understand customer service.

Such cute little spot! Loved the decorations and the food made me reminisce of my days growing up in Venezuela. Kenia was so sweet and loved how she treated us. Highly recommend!
