Went to the Islander with My husband 2 nights ago. We got sat down rather quickly wasnt crowded which was perfect! The food came out quickly also. Our waitress was pleasant! Only downside is the price for our food and drinks were $100 which I thought was a little pricey. Other then that the food and drinks were great and so was the service!

Food is always great! However we went for lunch but had lousy service with hardly anyone there. I had to get my own duck sauce from the hostess and had to go back to her for to go containers and find our bill. I took away a star because of this. Overall, we will return but hopefully have a different waitress.

It had been a while since I had visited the islander because I had moved away. I came back to find that they were no longer The same place I remembered. My go-to was always the sweet and sour chicken. The meal was always accompanied with pineapple and maraschino cherries mixed in with the chicken and sauce. I was highly disappointed when I bit into the chicken which seemed very large on the outside about the size of a small clam cake but had a chunk of chicken the size of a small dice inside. If I had to compare how much meat was in the whole container, I figure it was less than maybe a 10th of a pound. Safe to say I felt ripped off and will not go back to the restaurant again. That’s too bad too because I used to go there quite often. If that is what they have done to my go to meal, I can imagine what corners they have cut on the other meals in the menu. At least the meal was hot. I’ll give them that. Otherwise I was highly disappointed.

Very relaxing atmosphere and kind staff. The meal was heavenly and quiet enough to have a normal conversation. We beat the dinner rush by 15 minutes. The do except reservations every day.

The chow mein was very slimy. The egg foo young was even slimy. The gravy was mega slimy. The drink’s lemons were oh, so slimy. (Had to ask twice for lemons on the side. The bland waitress ignored my request to have the lemons, on the side. When I gently asked again, she reluctantly delivered them on a damp cocktail napkin, with a “don’t ask for another thing” type of expression on her face. I heeded the warning, and quietly consumed my slimy lunch.

My family and I were in the area and made sure we stopped in to get our favorite Chinese food before heading home. We can’t find any near us in MA that are decent and I grew up with Islander Chinese.
