Islander 71 is a nod to the easy going beach life of the Isle of Palms in the 1970’s. Taking you back to when kids rode bikes freely, Dads drank beer on the beach and Moms sunbathed to a golden brown. Afternoons were spent crabbing on the dock, or catching Reds at flood tide. Dinner was a gathering time for friends and family to share succulent seafood and fruity drinks. Laughter and good vibes were in the air as the sky turned into a mango sunset. Welcome to Islander 71.

Yesterday was my first visit to Island 71 and I can honestly say I’m not impressed with the seafood. (Something the Low country of Charleston is mostly known for). Though it was good I’ve had better at a more reasonable price. Kelsey was an amazing server and she didn’t miss anything when it came to taking care of the party of 15+. Unfortunately, the biggest flaw about this restaurant is that a party of 8 or more they only do one check or can split the check evenly while only being able to use up to 4 credit cards. We didn’t know this was the case until after we have already ordered our drinks. Please be mindful of this!!!!!! It’s not a place I would recommend being a native to the low country.

I have seen Islander 71 on IG and have really been wanting to check it out. This place is back in the CUT! The drive is pretty as you do cut through a neighborhood to get to it. Once you arrive, the parking lot is huge and the parking is free and they do have valet available.
We had reservations for inside but we ended up sitting outside instead as it was a bit chilly inside. Had we realized the menu inside was a bit different than the menu for the outside area, we would have requested a different table. The interior was beautiful and well put together.
The outside has beautiful views of the water and they also have an astroturfed area where you can play a little corn hole and they have a stage for a live band. Plenty of seating available.
For the food, I had the seared Ahi tuna sandwich w/ the risotto Saladin the side (I’ve never had tuna like this before so my first impression was that I needed to get used to it but the flavor was there and it was cooked well) and it looked great!
We got the fries with the she crab soup drizzled over them and those were delicious (who would have thought that would have been a tasty combination?)
We did get a separate order of the she crab soup and that was fantastic. There were plenty of good sized clumps of crab meat and it was flavorful and creamy.
We will definitely be back to visit soon!

We had a fantastic experience at Islander 71 during our recent visit to Isle of Palms. From the moment we arrived, the lively, upbeat atmosphere set the tone for a great evening. The views and vibe perfectly captured that relaxed coastal charm.

The Flounder Sandwich was absolutely delicious — fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crisp. It was easily a highlight of the meal. We also tried the She Crab Soup, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor — a definite must-order.

The frozen drink was top-notch and hit the spot on a warm evening.

Service was excellent, and we want to give a special shoutout to our waiter Sam B., who was friendly, attentive, and really made us feel welcome.

Highly recommend Islander 71 for anyone looking for great food, strong drinks, and a fun atmosphere by the water. We’ll definitely be back!

Pulled up in the boat for the 1st time. Great oysters & good. The salmon BLT was amazing. They were out of the fried saltines, which was a bummer because we wanted to try those, but otherwise everything was really good.

We were set to sit in the main dining room, but waited upstairs to wait for our table. They serve a different menu on the top deck. The food was great and the views were outstanding. It was a great evening, and being outside was perfect. The fish sandwich is the real deal. Look forward to going back.

Wonderful establishment that absolutely takes care of their customers. I had ordered a Surf & Turf entree and ordered the steak rare and received a fully cooked steak. I brought it to the waitress’s attention and they immediately started fixing it. They even went to the extent of taking my girlfriend’s meal, which we had already begun eating, and brought both of us fresh meals. Overall, cannot express our gratitude towards the establishment and their staff.

I visited Islander 71 for lunch today around 3 PM, and my experience was a mixed bag. Initially, I was underwhelmed as my friends and I waited about five minutes for a host to greet us, leaving a less-than-great first impression. However, once we were seated, our waitress made the experience enjoyable with her friendly demeanor and excellent drink recommendations.

We ordered the daily tacos, which were flavorful and well-prepared. While I enjoyed the food, it was only warm rather than hot, which was a bit disappointing. On the plus side, the drinks were fantastic and complemented our meal perfectly.

Overall, despite the rocky start, we had a good time and appreciated the welcoming atmosphere. I’d recommend giving it a try, but perhaps at a busier time to see if the service improves.
