Islander 71 is a nod to the easy going beach life of the Isle of Palms in the 1970’s. Taking you back to when kids rode bikes freely, Dads drank beer on the beach and Moms sunbathed to a golden brown. Afternoons were spent crabbing on the dock, or catching Reds at flood tide. Dinner was a gathering time for friends and family to share succulent seafood and fruity drinks. Laughter and good vibes were in the air as the sky turned into a mango sunset. Welcome to Islander 71.

We had reservations for inside but we ended up sitting outside instead as it was a bit chilly inside. Had we realized the menu inside was a bit different than the menu for the outside area, we would have requested a different table. The interior was beautiful and well put together.
The outside has beautiful views of the water and they also have an astroturfed area where you can play a little corn hole and they have a stage for a live band. Plenty of seating available.
For the food, I had the seared Ahi tuna sandwich w/ the risotto Saladin the side (I’ve never had tuna like this before so my first impression was that I needed to get used to it but the flavor was there and it was cooked well) and it looked great!
We got the fries with the she crab soup drizzled over them and those were delicious (who would have thought that would have been a tasty combination?)
We did get a separate order of the she crab soup and that was fantastic. There were plenty of good sized clumps of crab meat and it was flavorful and creamy.
We will definitely be back to visit soon!
The Flounder Sandwich was absolutely delicious — fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crisp. It was easily a highlight of the meal. We also tried the She Crab Soup, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor — a definite must-order.
The frozen drink was top-notch and hit the spot on a warm evening.
Service was excellent, and we want to give a special shoutout to our waiter Sam B., who was friendly, attentive, and really made us feel welcome.
Highly recommend Islander 71 for anyone looking for great food, strong drinks, and a fun atmosphere by the water. We’ll definitely be back!
Shrimp trip appetizer was really good.
My grilled flounder with side or roasted veges and fries was ok. The fries and veges were good. Flounder was a nice portion but taste was so so.
Other plate ordered wa shrimp po boy wchich was good.
Banana crème brûlée for desert was good!!
We ordered the daily tacos, which were flavorful and well-prepared. While I enjoyed the food, it was only warm rather than hot, which was a bit disappointing. On the plus side, the drinks were fantastic and complemented our meal perfectly.
Overall, despite the rocky start, we had a good time and appreciated the welcoming atmosphere. I’d recommend giving it a try, but perhaps at a busier time to see if the service improves.
I’m not from around here.
Decided to try it.
Was wonderful.
Didn’t want a heavy meal being late.
Got the crab dip and hush puppies.
My wife got a burger and it was awesome too.
Service was wonderful.
Overall this place is a must.
