As a vegetarian, I don’t get to say this often: what an absolutely incredible taco! I got the tofu taco with cilantro, garlic sauce. It was such a perfect sauce – tastes delicious, and the garlic is cooked just right so that you get the flavor and none of the heartburn of raw or undercooked garlic.
Friendly service and our order was out pretty quick. There is limited seating, but people move fast through here so we had to wait just a couple of minutes.
Wish we had time to come back for another meal here!

Great spot for a quick meal, especially after hiking at Waimea Canyon. I got the Kalau Pork taco, super filling and came with a nice side of chips. Outside seating is shaded by umbrellas. Highly recommend eating here!

Island Taco is the perfect lunch spot en route to Waimea Canyon. Located on the south side of Kauai, about 30 minutes from Waimea Canyon, island taco has great food and fast and friendly service. Lots of gluten free and vegan options that are safe for celiac!
The woman at Island Taco was extremely knowledgeable about gluten cross-contamination and she directed me on how to order so as to be safe! I ordered the mahi mahi tacos on corn tortillas with salsa and refried beans instead of chips (the chips are fried in a fryer with gluten). The tacos were delicious, flavorful, and loaded with cabbage, rice, and mahi! The refried beans were flavorful and creamy. Delicious and satisfying lunch before a day of hiking!
My two friends ordered the tofu burritos which were delicious! My one friend is vegan and was happy that the tofu and beans and rice were all vegan!
With fast and friendly service, it was so refreshing to eat at a spot that was so understanding of dietary restrictions.
There are covered picnic tables outside, so you can enjoy your tacos in the island breeze. Highly recommend Island Taco!

I came here Feb. 20th. Need to hire a new person in front the lady was so rude to us , rushed us to get our order and when my husband and I was trying for order she had a very passive aggressive attitude and kept saying “What I can’t hear you I’m sorry?!?!” And continued talking in the most sassy high maka maka tone. Just a thought maybe turn down the high blasting music and you could hear what the customers are trying to order?. also noticed the lady yelled at other customers as well so unfriendly. After the terrible sassy attitude she gave us , waiting an hour for our “Two classic tacos” she got our order wrong and only served us ONE taco. Right because we just repeated the word “ classic tacos” TWICE for fun you should always go over the customers order instead of rushing them..After the long wait for those tacos, it was not even worth it. It was so basic ingredients from big save that I could’ve made it much better at home. $35 wasted on two small BLAND tacos. I was so ready to give her a tip in the beginning because I saw she was rushing & all over the place as I also work in food industry so I know how stressful it can be but omg she does not know how to work well under pressure. relax no need for the uptight sassy passive aggressive attitude when we were talking nice to her. Such bad service. Atmosphere overstimulating with the loud music and rude tudes. Food was so junk& below mid never even have meat just beans instead. And honestly after getting my order wrong with no apologies and all I got was a “what?!? I only charged you for one taco” again sassy high maka maka attitude after all that and having to drive allll the way back wasting my time & gas bc of a mistake the worker made…she could’ve given it to me for free or at least discount! Never coming back here lol. And I suggest you don’t either unless you want your time and money wasted.
