We visited Island Sushi and Ramen in Boise, ID, and had a mixed experience. The food itself was nice and fresh — the sushi tasted great, and everything looked well prepared.
However, the wait time was disappointing. We waited about 55 minutes for a table. During that time, a party of six, a party of three, and a party of two party of four who arrived after us were seated before we were. We also noticed three tables for four and two additional tables sitting open, which made the wait even more frustrating.
Once seated, it took about 15 minutes before our server came to take our drink orders. We arrived around 6 PM and didn’t leave until about 9 PM.
The food quality was good, but the long wait and slow service made the overall experience less enjoyable. I hope they can improve their seating organization and service timing because the food is definitely worth it.
Two tables that had been pushed together to seat six guests became available. After that party left, the tables were separated and a party of two was seated at one table and a party of three at the other — five guests total who had arrived well after us.
Given that we had been waiting longer, it was frustrating to see later arrivals seated before us, especially when the seating could have accommodated our group. I hope you can understand why that situation was disappointing from our perspective.

After a cold day at the zoo, we wanted to have a hot ramen lunch and also explore a new restaurant. I am happy that we gave this place a try! The staff was extremely attentive and friendly, and the options for customization of your ramen was much more flexible than other places I have been. The broth was rich and flavorful and the ingredients were fresh. It was extremely yummy! I can confidently say that we will be back the next time we get the itch for ramen. I will have to try the sushi next time too!

It really is a great place to grab a quick bite. The service was very fast and the food was a little above quality. A “That’ll do” Sushi roll. Great selection of rolls though, and there bowls are a bit unorthodox, but equally as delicious. Spent $21 on a bowl and a beverage… ao about average cost per person.

This place is great! My go to for sushi. The prices are good and the food is delicious. Crispy roll and grilled chicken ramen are what I get here. I always recommend it

Had very quick and friendly service. The place is clean and had a good level for the music. The soup and sushi deal was only $15 and tasted very good! My favorite was the tropical roll that had fresh mango in it.

Island Sushi is another one of Boise’s fantastic sushi places. The quality of fish and service you get for a reasonable price is unbeatable. They have fantastic gyoza (I always get it. Dip it in soy sauce.) and miso soup (which is also very good) comes free with your meal. Great value, great food, great restaurant. Do eat here!

We found this place to dine at while passing through Boise. It has a really nice atmosphere and is well decorated. They were very busy, so the wait for food took awhile. The service was decent though! I had the double shrimp roll. The tempura shrimp was crispy and the ebi (cooked shrimp) was fresh. It was good! My husband had the tuna poke bowl which was really fresh and well seasoned. He chose to include both mangoes and avocado, and it was the right choice. It also came with rice, miso soup, and seaweed salad. Overall a recommended place to get sushi and poke bowls or just dinner! They seem to allow pick up or “drive through” orders as well where someone will come out to your car to get the order and pass you the order.

The first time we came here, it was good, but nothing to write home about. But I’m so glad I came back and gave them a second go. The sushi was extremely good, fresh, and well prepared. Service was fantastic as well. Sake selection is on point. Not huge, but good quality. I like that they have a little picture guide at the place settings so you can figure out what the sushi bros have given you. Menu does a good job of explaining things as well for those who may not know all the proper sushi/sashimi names. The sushi rice was really well seasoned and the pieces were large. Hospitality was super as well! Really great experience and I highly recommend! Wish I had taken some photos, but I’ve already eaten everything up! Ordered the sushi and sashimi for 1 and aged tofu. Everything was excellent.

I ordered the tonkotsu with beef ramen, extra spicy. It came with freshly chopped scallion, and a whole boiled egg sliced in two halves. The beef was seared on the outside and thinly sliced, and it had a firm, fresh texture. The soup base was particularly thick (thick better than thin). Baby bamboo shoots and yellow corn gave the bites some crunch. The noodles could be better grade as I suspect they may be prepackaged. Plenty parking for my 30 foot vehicle. Glass of ice water tastes a bit metallic (tap) but came with a slice of lemon.
Positive dining experience: 4 out of 5.
