I used to live in the area and this was my favorite go to spot for Jamaican food; I’ve NEVER been disappointed. I haven’t been in two years since I moved to Charlotte so I was really excited to place an order today. I placed a to go order for ackee and salt fish and it was so disappointing. Honestly it looked more like scrambled eggs, it was mushy with barely any salt fish and it just taste ok. I thought I at least had the rice and peas to fall back on but they weren’t as good as they usually are either. I didn’t bother to finish it.

I have ordered from here on more than one occasion and have never had an issue until today. There was hair in my food. This is very unsanitary and I’m disappointed that I now need to find another place to frequent.

We had the best time here. We tried each other’s dishes and the food is so delicious! The food was so good that our group wanted to meet the chef. He came out to thunderous applause! I will definitely be going back. The server was very attentive and friendly. The bar drinks were creative but just OK. If you like jamaican food, I highly recommend Island Spice Grille!

Wow! An absolute hidden jewel of a restaurant in Edgewood Maryland! We have been traveling back and forth to church services down here and never knew that this place was right on the other side of the road. We were pleasantly surprised and the food was Absolutely Delicious. Our service was excellent. Shaniqua and Manager Cecil made sure that we were well taken care of. Very Clean and well kept restaurant. Simply Beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended.

February 2022 was when I visited the restaurant. I told y’all I’m really playing catch up with my reviews.

I traveled over an hour to visit this establishment, as I saw an ad online for the restaurant. The food looked really good and I’m a sucker for a good meal! I took my sister for her birthday, and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Our server was Serena B. and she was super nice and friendly. She made recommendations from the menu as we explained it was our first time at the restaurant. The menu choices, I can’t remember all the items, but I do remember there were some good choices.

I ordered the rasta pasta, which wasn’t bad. I did need to add some salt, but not a lot. It was pretty good, not too spicy, but not too bland in flavor. Let me back up, I forgot, I did order an appetizer, the salmon nuggets. OMG, I know it was a long time ago, but sitting here typing, I remember how good they were! They were seasoned perfectly, fried to a perfection, and were drizzled with a honey sauce.

My sister ordered the jerk chicken wings, which I remembered were also good! Sometimes, jerk anything can be hit-or-miss, but these were hit! I’m looking at the pictures I took, and it looks as though my sister ordered the goat. The dish came with rice and beans and plaintains. From the photo, they look pretty good; however, I cannot remember if she was satisfied with her order. So, unfortunately, I cannot comment on the dish any further.

I really wish I would have made a review on this when it was fresh on my mind. That’s on me. However, I do remember being quite satisfied with my menu choices, the urban chic decor made the vibe of the restuarant welcoming, the attentive and freiendly staff makes you want to return and enjoy a good meal. I highly recommend this restaurant!

5 stars – Best Restaurant in Town, Hands Down

Island Spice isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a time machine that took me straight back to the heart of Jamaica. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for something special. The smells alone were enough to make my mouth water. When the food came out? Pure magic.

I ordered the oxtail with rice and peas, fried plantains, and cabbage—and let me tell you, it tasted like it came straight from a roadside cookshop in Kingston. Every bite was tender, seasoned to perfection, and clearly made with love. The flavors weren’t just good—they were authentic. That rich, savory gravy? I could drink it.

Even better, my waitress doubled as the bartender, and she was a total vibe. Her recommendations were on point every drink and dish she suggested hit the mark! Her energy was warm and welcoming, like I was visiting family.

This place doesn’t just serve great food. It serves comfort, culture, and a reminder of what real Jamaican cooking is all about. Island Spice is the best restaurant in town. No contest. If you’re looking for a true taste of the islands, this is where you go.

We tasted a lot of food this day and spent quite a bit of money but it was definitely worth it!! All the food was amazing and tasted as good as it looked. We had salmon bites and jerk wings for the appetizer. Bob Marley and Jamaican Me Happy rum punch drinks. We tasted the curry chicken, escovitch red snapper and oxtails. They were very attentive, atmosphere was very good and they give a 10 percent military discount. 5/5 I would definitely come back here again and I look forward to it.

I’ve lived in the area for a few years and i’ve always driven past Island Spice but never gone in but i was curious the other night and decided to stop by. As soon as i walked in the restaurant i was greeted by the amazing hostess Liana and she guided me through my take out order. The food came out about 15 minutes later and was very fresh and flavorful. I give Island Spice 5 stars for quick and amazing service!

Tried this restaurant in Edgewood, MD for lunch. We were seated immediately as there were only 2 people eating at lunchtime.
There were 2 of us. Music was playing. The hostess attempted to put us in an island mood by placing some artifical plants near us and saying to use our imagination to pretend to be on the island. Really was unnecessary.
The waiter arrived immediately. Recommend the peach pineapple punch. It was vert tasty.
We reviewed the menu. Found our choices. A dinner size rasta pasta and lunch sized jerk chicken with cabbage, rice and peas. Ordered coco bread. I’ve had better coco bread. It was OK but something a little off. The jerk chicken was very tender. Only one piece of plantains. Large scoop of rice and peas. Very tasty. Not overly perked. The rasta pasta was good. We both had leftovers.
Highly recommend. Wish it was closer as we came from the city to try this restaurant

First time visiting from Havre de Grace. Nice decor, clean and wonderful service. Visited Jamaica many times and this seems very authentic so far. So many things on menu we still need to try. Curry and jerk sauces very good. Drink is the Bob Marley. Jerk wings, roti, salmon bites, and lamb chops. Look forward to a return to try more menu items. Worth the trip.
