Had breakfast at Island Provisions on Johns Island, South Carolina. It was a cute little shop. They had tons of breakfast items, including bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries. I had the bagel with hot honey and the bagel was actually decent for the Carolinas. My friends had the breakfast sandwich and they absolutely loved it. The prices were reasonable. The coffee was also very good and the service was pretty quick. Not too much seating but we got a table right away. Would definitely go back.

Lattes were AMAZING – not overly sweet, perfect amount of cream, great coffee flavor. Our quiche and breakfast sandwich were a great portion for the price and tasted great. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was very welcoming.

Staff really needs better training in basic customer service and manners. I live just a few blocks away and used to come often with my husband. Their drip coffee is solid 8/10 and the atmosphere is lovely.

However, the young women working there consistently come across as cold and unwelcoming. A simple smile or friendly greeting goes a long way, especially in a neighborhood café. The energy and hospitality should reflect the same warmth and quality as their coffee and ambiance.

We were here traveling with a group of 7 for a bachelorette weekend looking for a great coffee shop for brunch. When we walked in, the ladies behind the counter turned to look at us, rolled their eyes and then began to whisper about us. Occasionally, looking at us and rolling their eyes. We were fully anticipating to not find a space to sit, however, the ladies said to each other, “Well good luck finding a place to sit” and another comment “Better hope it doesn’t rain”. Looking past this we still smiled and ordered even though the lady taking our order was very rude and would not make eye contact. As a group we spent over $100 to this business. The food was great, however, the service and hospitality could be improved. We were very disappointed.

We enjoyed a nice breakfast with friends at Island Provisions. The coffees and food were delicious. They had a number of yummy gluten free options.

I stopped in and got a breakfast bagel sandwich and a latte to go last week. The bagel was good. Nothing really super special to me but nothing bad. Just a solid breakfast sandwich. The latte was good too but kind of the same thing. Nothing really good or bad about it. Just solid for this area. The inside is cool and they have some grab and go items and whatnot. I would go back but at around $20 for a coffee and a sandwich it might not be very often.

Dear Island Provisions,
Your lattes are out of this world delicious. I have never had such a delightful tasting latte in my entire life. All the flavors are true perfection. It’s quite dangerous living so close to you because I spend all of my money on lattes. The large iced size is so amazing and I want to go there every day. The fall flavors that you have out now are divine! Would you consider a frequent buyer program? Your staff members are very nice and friendly and warn me every time that an extra shot of espresso in the large is 4 shots but it’s just so good I need all the espresso shots. Thanks for being so amazing! <333333 Carly.

P. S. Will probably see you tomorrow.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat, it was great! Lox bagel and house drip coffee hit the spot. Cute place to hang out with grab and go options as well.

Easy 5 stars. Had a breakfast sandwich and black coffee this morning. The sandwich was all local and fresh ingredients and extremely tasty. Black coffee was on point and you could tell the put in a lot of effort choosing which one to serve. They also have draft beers and potentially a wine tasting. I will be going back for both. Each time I have been in, people are friendly and engage in conversation with me. This will be my new spot.

Weirdly cold experience, and not because of the weather. I like to buy local when I can and since I have been making an effort to find an alternative to Starbucks, I decided to look at what was close to my home. My favorite shop, Gold Star Coffee, was closed, so with a quick Google search, this place was only 15 minutes away and I decided to try something new. Unfortunately, I won’t be back.

I ordered a chamomile tea & a chocolate croissant, total came to a little over $7. This was the least of my concerns, pretty fair price for local and this is about what I would expect to pay at Gold Star, so I wasn’t concerned. However the quality of what I got (both what I ordered and the customer service) was severely lackluster.

This was my first time at the cafe, so I tried to get a feel for the vibe and I just felt strangely unwelcome. In an effort to not jump to conclusions, after I ordered, I took a seat and waited for tea which ended up being my warm water with a bag of chamomile in it (I only drank half and threw the rest away), I tried to relax but just couldn’t.
The water was warm as if it had been sitting there all day and based on the unenthused customer service I’d gotten, I felt that if I would’ve said something, it wouldn’t have been received warmly. The chocolate croissant tasted store bought (wasn’t expecting gourmet or anything, but it tasted like those dollar store box pastries a coworker buys for one of my office’s morning meeting) but the person who took my order didn’t even offer to have it warmed.

The people serving me were generally unenthused and did not seem as if they were interested in being there. I understand having an “I’m in the zone” working face, but I am also in the customer service workspace and I always do my best to have a smile when interacting with customers even if I don’t feel like it. On the positive side, the 3 workers were diligently doing tasks and were genuinely working hard. I guess I just expected more considering the glowing reviews.

The final weird straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back was the fact that when I sat at my table, I just watched a tub full of raw chicken sitting (see photo below) on the counter for the entirety of the time I had been there, which was around 20 minutes (didn’t make it to 30), and that was just off-putting. No smiles, no welcoming environment, and it was overall extremely underwhelming and disappointing.

I wish y’all the best and I appreciate the brief reprieve from a busy day!
