This restaurant is a stand out spot that truly lives up to and fully deserves the praise it recieves. Jay is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the whole place has a warm, positive energy make you feel right at home the moment you walk in. I ordered the oxtail, and it was outstanding!! Perfectly tender and flavorful, the seasoning was spot on and the portion was very generous. I’ll definitely be back again this week to get some more 🙂

It was cold yesterday morning loves. I stopped into this cool little Jamaican restaurant on the Avenue in Hartford Northend. Lemme tell you …service is impeccable. The owner is sweet as pie and so accommodating. While I waited for my breakfast of ackee and saltfish with dumplings he gave me a likkle taste of some cow foot soup with boil dumplin, carrots, potato. So good to shake off the early morning chill and extremely hardy…made me feel like I was home with my daddy (SIP) making sure mi belly full cause I’m hungry. ❤️
Thank you for the hospitality, thank you for nourishing my soul with nostalgia and appreciate the love in the prepared food. Ackee and saltfish was just right with the akee, peppers and onions and big flaky pieces of salted cod fish. The fried dumplings were HOT and sooo good. I didn’t eat the whole thing but saved some for my 10yo son who greedily accepted this traditional delicacy. The smile on his face was an additional reward. Thank you Island Fish Head Jamaican Restaurant for the authentic love and life you are bringing to our community with your exceptional service and thoughtfulness.
Come down…enjoy some good West Indian food, grab some sea moss and be well. The beautifully hand painted mural is quite the focal point. Big ups and one love.

The people who work here made me feel at home because they were so sweet and nice. The curry chicken was soft, moist, and flavorful same thing for the rice. They give a lot of food on their plate I really enjoyed the food and service they provided.

Absolutely loved this place! I couldn’t decide between jerk chicken or oxtail so the owner graciously gave me both. The flavor was amazing. I’d go again! Highly recommend!

I recently discovered Jamaican food while living in Hartford and have heard this place was one of the best. It definitely lives up to the reputation!
I asked for a recommendation and the nice lady behind the counter gave me a mix of goat and oxtail, which was an amazing combo together. The oxtail was mild and the goat was spicy, and they just went together so well.
I will definitely be back when I’m in the area!

One of the best Jamaican food I have ever tasted, even better than the island itself. Jay and her husband are incredibly sweet and welcoming. The jerk chicken is delicious not to mention the variety of cold press juices, sea moss and smoothies they have are great! Their menu filled with so many options to choose from. I Tried the vegetarian soup too and it was heaven.

First of all, the food is excellent! I ordered oxtails and vegetables. The oxtails were delicious but I was really impressed by the vegetables, which were perfectly cooked and really flavorful. My daughter ordered the Rasta pasta. Not only was the chicken juicy and flavorful, but the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious! We’ll certainly eat there again.
