This place is a great location, beautiful view and relaxing fun vibe. Tropic get at right in oortland. The food is solid nothing amazing but good. I wish there were my vegetarian options for the tacos and bowls. It’s a lovely place to have dinner and enjoy the beautiful area. It is definitely worth the visit.

We discovered Island Cafe for the first time this past summer. Hot day, been at Rooster all day, exhausted and needed a drink and dinner… why not end the day on the River?
Island Cafe is a floating restaurant on the Columbia River. It holds a great deal of people, but expect to wait. That’s part of the charm.
They’re busy. They’re always busy. Doesn’t matter when you go, they’re busy. Staff is always seemingly smiling and friendly. Be ready to give your order fast, everyone wants a table and they’re always working through their wait list.
The drinks are just fine. Nothing special. They usually show up in a timely fashion. They do well at both cocktails and martinis, I’ve had both (of course!)
Food is pretty solid. This is a glorified bar but their chef does right by their patrons. I’ve had a chicken sandwich that was good and one of their salads. I really like the salad. It was huge and filling.
The place is pricey. You’re gonna pay for a floating restaurant on the River… but you’re also floating while you eat! Enjoy the experience!
We always love coming back. Looking forward to next Summer!

Great food , great drinks they have happy hour M-F 3-6 ⭐️ great service. Went for the last closing day on Sunday. As they will reopen on May 6th 2026 for the new season. Highly recommend! Bring your sunglasses it’s an amazing time in the sun & shade

The service was good even though the restaurant was packed. Cold beer on a hot day on the river, what could be better?
We didn’t eat but the food looks delicious!
Update: I had the food and it was delicious. I had a burger. I would have given a 5 star but I’m not a fan of large buns. The fries were excellent.
I want to give a shout out to Jenn Blades. She runs a tight ship t and keeps the place in tip top shape. She helps provide a pleasant atmosphere for all!

Such a fun experience. Felt like I was back at the Jersey Shore—or on vacation somewhere! Great friendly service, a wonderful atmosphere, good food, and delicious drinks. I especially loved the “floating” restaurant experience of being right on the water.

I think I found my fish & chips in the PNW! Lovely little place on the waterfront with even greater views!! Special thank you to Madi and Taylor for indulging my guilty pleasure of putting parmesan cheese on fish & chips! Glad I stumbled upon it in tiny old Hayden Island! 10/10, will definitely be back!

Great food, chill atmosphere, excellent and friendly service! A bit of a wait, but that’s to be expected on a Friday evening. Plenty of shaded seating while we waited and we got drinks from the window to help keep cool. The fish tacos (seared ahi and halibut) were very flavorful. My inlaws got the pulled pork sandwich and Reuben. We had a bite of the pulled pork sandwich and will definitely be getting that next time, it was sooo good! The key lime pie easily rivals those in the Florida Keys. We’ll be back

Great experience here! Went for my birthday dinner with family and friends and it did not disappoint! Loved the summer vibes and being out on the water. The shrimp was delicious and cocktails strong and tasty! Very excited to go back again next season. They also have a great happy hour menu!
