We stopped for a late lunch and were very pleased with our choice. Reese was our waiter and he was so much fun! He gave us some basic history of Islamorada and the Keys, which we were appreciative of! We tried gator bites which my husband loved. I would give them an ok, but just the thought I couldn’t get past, lol. Great shrimp, I had the catch of the day, Mahi Mahi , grilled and delicious. We had a great experience and will come back!

The shrimp and grits were amazing, full of flavor, and absolutely delicious. The blackened fish plate was exceptional as well, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Great food and a must-visit spot while in the area for a quite inside dinner.

Stopped by Islamorada Shrimp Shack for takeout and tried the alligator bites and shrimp fritters. The alligator was a bit under-seasoned and definitely needed a dip in remoulade to bring it to life. The shrimp fritters, however, were on point—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and absolutely delicious. Bonus points for the wonderfully friendly staff, who made the stop a super pleasant one. They were also fast and got us back on the road in no time.

Went on a Tuesday night and it was empty. The staff were friendly and quick. So quick she didn’t get us our appetizer. She forgot it completely. We did get our food and I opted for the grouper and it was delicious. My husband had the shrimp and grits and enjoyed it as well. No views though, so not much for ambience. Ice cold air conditioning indoors!

The customer service is excellent and the food is delicious. We ordered a combo platter which included fried fish, shrimp, and clams, along with hush puppies , coleslaw (a bit small), tartar sauce, and ketchup. We shared it between two of us because we weren’t very hungry. My husband also ordered the soup of the day (meatballs with vegetables) and it was absolutely delicious. Actually, everything was fresh and very tasty.

We just go home from Islamorada and have vacationed there at least a dozen times. On this trip, we ate at the Shrimp Shack twice and I have to say, the food, service and $ were all excellent. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. Everyone is so friendly and it is super casual. The food was just delicious. We will return!

Stopped over in islamorada for the half way point to the keys.

This place was close to the hotel and did not disappoint.

Mom and pop restaurant. Over head the server saying the cooks also been here for a long time. So sounds like a family business.

They dropped of bread and banana bread to start. Nice honey butter.

Appetizers was the shrimp fritters. well seasoned and goes well with the fried/ranch.

Order shrimp and grits and the jambalaya. Both large portions, we had to take half the plates to go. I will say the shrimp and grits was my favorite dish of this meal. Staff is friendly, quick service, come through.

We were on a family vacation and tried the Shrimp Shack after a suggestion from Capt Jake who took us offshore fishing. We took the Mahi we caught to the Shrimp Shack and they prepare the most delicious dishes you will find in the Keys. We actually came back a second night as well. They prepared the fish 7 or 8 different ways for us and each way was phenomenal. Not only was the fish good, the service was excellent. The food arrived quickly and we really felt taken care of…. like family. The restaurant is not crowded so there is no wait time. There was no water view but if you can get past that, you will have the best food around. We tried several other restaurants in the area but none were as good. The photo was just the first visit. The second visit we had the fish prepared completely different. Check out the portion of the menu labeled “Hook and Cook” for all of your options.

I love the Shrimp Shack it has an old Florida feel which is priceless! When I want fresh fish this is my favorite place. They have a great menu with plenty of other offerings, personally I just love the Jalapeño Panko Encrusted Hogfish. Other favorites are the wahoo smoked fish dip, Dolphin (Mahi) Continental and Picatta, Greek salad, soups. Make no mistake, I have been to the high dollar, high profile places in Islamorada where you may or may not be on the water but you always pay twice the price, they pale in comparison. I’m already dreaming of my next visit.

We travel 91 miles to there every month. It is that good. Our usual fare is the continental Mahi fish over seasoned rice, shrimp and grits and shrimp scampi paired with mango strawberry daquri. Clean great staff. I have tried shrimp and fries all over Florida from Orlando, Ft lauderdale,Palm Beach, etc and this is hands down the best. The meals are fresh especially the fish and the seasonings that are on it like chopped tomato and other herbs
