Their meat is high quality, which reflects also on the prices. It’s awesome to find a Japanese barbecue with the quality in town. We ordered creamy Mentaiko udon, and a Seattle restaurant week $65 menu including four types of beef, miso soup, rice, and 2 balls of Takoyaki. Note that regarding the bill, the tip suggestions are after tax, NOT pre-tax. Street parking is difficult. The reservation requires to put a credit card but did not charge before the meal.

First time here with another couple to celebrate Valentine’s Day and it did not disappoint! They gave roses out to the girls upon arrival-such a sweet gesture! Great quality meat and awesome service. Our favorites were the rib fingers and garlic flap-make sure to get the ishoni rice! The truffle sandwich was also amazing. Complimentary yuzu sorbet was delicious. Will be back again:)

I have no idea how this place is rated to be #1 Yakiniku place in Seattle. I guess there’s a very little competition. Menu doesn’t have the typical Japanese Yakiniku fare and the beef is cut so thin it’s more like for sukiyaki. Service was friendly but slow and the grill doesn’t get hot enough. Cocktail was weak and the sake menu is so limited. How can it call themselves a Yakiniku restaurant when they don’t have ‘namuru’ and don’t have the meats cut right? I was so disappointed and almost offended as a Japanese who loves Yakiniku.

10/10 experience all around!!!

Wagyu and mentaiko yam (山藥) is a must. Owner is Taiwanese so we chatted a bit, and he is super attentive and nice!! The service overall was really great and fast as well.

I love how they marinate their meats, and all the cuts were high quality and fresh!

Will definitely come back!! ‍↕️ ‍↕️ ‍↕️

had a lovely dinner here. the quality of the meats were great, cocktails were well balanced, and the service was on point. they changed our grill without us having to ask, so we could enjoy the clean flavor of the meats. we were celebrating a birthday, and they were so kind to bring a dessert to celebrate.

Came here for a late dinner. Got seated fast without a reservation, we were warned that last call to kitchen is in 25 min..the staff was friendly and polite even though it was close to closing time. The quality of the food was excellent! The meats were delectable, we had the beef combo, seafood combo, veggies and chicken. And everything was delicious. We had fun cooking our little bites but it is a bit of a chore. We ordered the cooked Mackerel, rice, fried yams, kimchi and edamame and they did not disappoint. The sesame pannacotta was amazing. And everyone loved the little free sherbet finisher. The price was high, but understandably so, for the quality of the food and service. Portions are small. This place is about the experience and not value.

Absolutely terrible service! We were a table of four and spent over $300 and had terrible service from staff and the manager (I eventually asked for the manager). It took them over 30 minutes to give us bowls of white rice, appetizers, and a bottle of sake AFTER I had gone up and asked for the manager to deliver our order. They still took over 45 minutes to deliver other food dishes that they forgot about. The manager ended up serving us the rest of the night and was quite rude and rolled his eyes at me and would directly speak to me being like “is this okay now?”. For spending over $300 at this restaurant the food should not be forgotten. Food was absolutely delicious but service was terrible. I will not be coming back and I will be letting all of my friends and peers to not come to this restaurant. It’s one thing to have bad service from servers – but having bad service from a manager that’s also rude is NOT good.

I used to dine at Ishoni back when they were in Bellevue before COVID hit.

I recently got the opportunity to try their latest and newest location in Capitol Hill. It is much bigger and there’s more staff now. The only difference now is that Ishoni no longer uses charcoal. Their meat selection was really good though. We ate seafood, beef, duck, and mushrooms and they were all really tasty.

We couldn’t leave without having dessert and got the Fried Ice Cream. It was amazing!

I am not sure if I will be back just because of the location and the difficulty to find parking. But if I come back, it will always be with friends!

What a gem of a place. Something you see plenty of in Japan but a real treat here in America. We were visiting family in Seattle and were treated to this wonderful dining experience. We got lucky and got a table right away and did not have to wait…another bonus. Recommend the beef sampler. If you’re a fan of wagyu, this is a must have dish. One plate with appetizers seemed to work well for our little group. Throw in some sake, a cocktail, and a friendly staff, and you have the full experience. Really wish we had one of these 140 miles south! Don’t miss Ishoni when in Seattle.
