My first visit to Irontown Pasties was a delight, thanks to the incredibly helpful young woman working there. She patiently guided us through the menu, making our introduction to pasties a breeze. We ordered two fresh pasties to enjoy on the spot, and they were delicious—flaky, flavorful, and satisfying. We also grabbed a bunch of frozen mini pasties for home and some cold ones to reheat during our road trip, which were perfect for travel. The service and quality made this a standout stop, and we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend.

you are anywhere near the Upper Peninsula, Irontown Pasties is an absolute must-stop. This is a true family-run gem where you can genuinely feel how much they appreciate their customers. The atmosphere is welcoming, parking is a breeze, and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
What really sets them apart is their inclusivity—they literally have a perfect pasty for everyone. Whether you are a dedicated carnivore, eating vegan, or need strict gluten-free options (which are incredibly hard to find done this well!), they have you covered.
Pro tip: Their pasties are primarily take-and-bake, which is perfect for stocking up. However, if you call ahead, they will happily have your order hot and ready to eat when you arrive. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

If you’re like me and have to eat gluten free, this is the place to go. ORDER AHEAD, just as the website says. I snowmobiled into Negaunee and hiked 10 blocks or so from the trail. I was just a little early so waited a few minutes for my dine in order, and then grabbed another 10 pastys frozen to go. FYI they survived an 85 mile sled ride in perfect condition. John the owner couldn’t have been any more cordial and the pasty was as good as I remember them – it had been 14 years! I prefer adding a dash of black pepper (traditional pasty). I doubt anyone would consider these over seasoned so spice them up to your taste.

Loved watching them in the kitchen, great front house staff. We bought frozen pasties to heat at camp for our dinner. GF and regular, and they were both amazing. Full of flavor and so big we could have shared one!

I can’t say enough about this place! We are from Upstate, NY and have never heard of a pasty before. We learned it was a “must do” thing. We have 2 members of our party who have Celiac disease and require gluten free food. After doing our research and reading the website we learned we needed to call one hour ahead of time, which we did. The young lady who took our order was extremely helpful and had great customer service! She went through ALL of our options, not just gluten free. When we arrived our food was ready! She made sure the gluten option was wrapped individually. She gave us plates and silverware. We were so happy to find this place! Well worth the visit!

Stopped here specifically for the vegan pasties, which were hearty and so good! If you want to eat these pies on site, Irontown needs one hour to cook them for your arrival! Worth it to call ahead. Vegan crust filled with tofu, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, nutritional yeast, onion, and garlic. They were out of the spicy vegan pasties by 1 pm. Friendly staff at this UP charming roadside restaurant!

Gluten-friendly available!!! My daughter had the GF Veggie cheese and the GF apple turnover and said they were amazing. I had the spicy jalapeño and it was delicious, not overwhelming heat-wise. My other daughter got the beef and she said it was very good. They also have frozen pasties available. They sell ice cream cones and turnovers also. We will be back for more!

I had the original and have to say it wasn’t the best. There was almost no meat in mine, so it was pretty bland. We ordered some gravy after the fact and that made them much better. Service was excellent, the staff was very friendly. There are only 2 tables inside, I think they do mostly takeout orders.
