We stayed at the Mills and came here for lunch with a $100 gift card.
The dining room was beautiful and we were sat in the back room area at a nice big booth because we had just checked out and had our things.
Our server was very helpful in recommending things that were GF because of my hubby and she was so nice and attentive. Service overall was great.
The food however, a bit underwhelming.
I would say the pickled shrimp was the main thing we enjoyed. Fresh and was accompanied by a nice array of veggies and presented nicely.
It was a bummer they didn’t have a GF bun but they did have GF toast so he got that swapped out for his burger. Can’t help that’s how the burger looked but it tasted fine.
The market catch was group and I was excited about this dish because I love corn and mushroom. There was one main flavor in this dish, GARLIC. I love garlic but every bite of that sweet corn puree was just garlic. It overwhelmed the entire dish. The fish wasn’t seasoned much but I actually couldn’t finish this dish and I’m not one to not finish my food or take with.
We opted out for dessert since we had to head out, but overall it was just ok. Again service was wonderful but we’re not sure if we’ll be back for the food.

We had a wonderful dining experience at The Iron Rose in Charleston, SC, and truly enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive, making for a relaxing and enjoyable evening.

We ordered the Old Bay kettle chips, charred octopus, flash-fried Brussels sprouts, 8 oz CAB burger, and Joyce Farms chicken, and every dish was delicious. The flavors were well-balanced, the ingredients tasted fresh, and each plate was beautifully prepared. The variety allowed us to sample different styles, and everything exceeded our expectations.

Overall, The Iron Rose delivered great food and a pleasant dining experience. It’s a fantastic spot for both locals and visitors looking for quality meals in downtown Charleston. We would recommend it!

Great experience.
First time in Charleston and we decided to eat at this place. It’s also a hotel. The service was quick and the food was delicious. The octopus was perfectly cooked.
We also ordered burgers. The meat was tender and the fries were crispy.
There’s no bar but they have great variety of fine wines to choose from. In general, great place for a romantic dinner.

We went here for brunch and had a fantastic experience. The smoked salmon plate and the Surf & Turf eggs Benedict were both excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed brunch, and the live music made it even more special.

Iron Rose has a strong concept and a visually appealing atmosphere that sets the tone nicely. The space feels intentional and stylish, making it a pleasant place to spend the evening.
Service was generally solid and attentive, with the team clearly making an effort, though timing and consistency could be improved to elevate the overall experience.
The food was nicely presented and enjoyable, but somewhat uneven. Some elements showed promise, while others felt like they could benefit from more focus, seasoning, or cohesion.
Overall, a good experience with clear potential. With more consistency in execution particularly in the kitchen Iron Rose could easily move from good to very good.

We’re so glad that we dined here! Foodies will appreciate the flavor combinations. I personally had the best vodka martini here (I know, its not really a martini if its not gin lol). Light layer of frost on the top and perfectly, lightly dirty. We unfortunately didn’t save room for dessert….but I’m sure that our next visit we will. The cheese and charcuterie appetizer was packed with flavorful treats, my fish was cooked perfectly, the risotto was a journey into mushroom heaven, and the scallops were tasty (according to my hubby). Although, maybe consider bumping up the portion to five scallops. If it had been a lunch portion, that would be acceptable. Four seemed to be rather a brisk portion control for dinner. Luckily I couldn’t finish my fish and my husband was only too happy for that.

I went here for a work dinner last night. The employees were all very nice and the ambience is beautiful. We got the charcuterie and pimento cheese a starter which was average. For my entree, I got the ribeye steak and we all shared Brussel sprouts as a side. Both dishes were very good. Unfortunately, at about 1 in the morning I was bowing to the porcelain god and everything I had that night came back up the way it entered. Luckily, it only lasted about 30 minutes and I only feel a nauseous this morning. However, getting food poisoning from a high priced dinner is unsettling and very disappointing. Be careful.

This restaurant is nestled inside a stunning hotel. The grand rose decor on the wall immediately caught our attention upon entering. We both opted for the fish sandwiches, which were incredibly delicious. They were among the best sandwiches we’ve ever had. The portions were generous enough to satisfy two people. We devoured half of it in the restaurant and enjoyed the remaining half for dinner at home.

Great brunch options in a beautiful setting. We ordered the oatmeal (spice roasted pears, brown sugar, and coconut) and the French toast (brioche with carmelized bananas). The restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived but was starting to pick up a bit by the time we left. Our server was very attentive and the food was fantastic. Our table never ran out of coffee or water and all the servers were friendly. This is definitely on my Chucktown brunch list from now on!

Unfortunately was not a hit for me. Located inside a hotel, service was good but breakfast was underwhelming. Bacon was absolutely the highlight. Perfectly crispy but still with a little chew and a hint of sweetness. Grits were a disappointment. Extremely under salted and had very little flavor even though they were cheese grits. Kale salad looked great when served but was a little bland. Holy city breakfast was good. Maybe we just hit on an off day because other reviews are so different.
