Super cool interior layout
Shout out to our server Joey, who was amazing and made us feel comfortable straight away.
Did the market table ($95) with wine pairing (75, 4 pours)
Pairings were right up my alley (pun intended). Standouts were the beet ravioli and oyster, Branzino was fresh and light, only thing we didn’t care for was the broccoli dish.
Would definitely come back again just for more ravioli!
Irongate is such a beautiful and cozy spot—exactly the kind of restaurant you want to escape to on a cold day. The brunch was absolutely delicious, especially the caramelized ricotta gnocchi, which was warm, comforting, and perfectly done.
We were lucky to have Irina as our server, and she made the experience even better. She’s amazing—so kind, attentive, and spot-on with her recommendations.
A perfect brunch from start to finish. Highly recommend!
Service is welcoming and attentive, although plates were occasionally whisked away too rapidly during our Christmas Eve 2025 visit.
We attended the Feast of Seven Fishes, a set four-course menu. While we detected some flaws in the meal (advertised horseradish garnish not provided in one dish; minimal lobster in the lobster pasta; hard to detect some ingredients listed in the apps), we had a marvelous time. The fare was wide-ranging and tasty — a true feast that was light enough not to unduly weigh us down.
A special shout out for the Sicilian Frost mocktail, a grapefruit and basil concoction that I requested extra tart. One of the best drinks that I’ve experienced anywhere — no need for alcohol here. Pure genius. Wine was thoroughly enjoyable, as was my after dinner White Russian.
In sum, our evening at the Iron Gate was delightful, with atmosphere, service and food conspiring to produce a memorable evening.
We tried several dishes. The standout was the fava bean salad. It’s savory yet refreshing with a well-seasoned dressing. The beans had such a nice texture. We also loved the short rib, flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender. The presentation looks great too.
For dessert, we had the light and refreshing panna cotta, just the right way to end the meal. The restaurant also surprised us with complimentary drinks and cake pops to help us celebrate. Very thoughtful and generous.
Service was warm and attentive throughout. So glad we dined here for a memorable birthday celebration.
The four Star… slow so slow on getting our dishes we overheard another table had received our starters accidentally – well the bread I thought was included was the other tables but, we got billed for it!?! We will definitely go back and hope their staffing issues – DC political issues (national guard/ ICE immigration) are resolve by then. The food was so good – Tonya the bartender so nice… we forgave the slow service.
Came here for summer restaurant week and was pretty disappointed. A few dishes on the pre-set menu were unavailable (not too crazy, just a little disappointing considering the menu was already limited for restaurant week), and every single dish came out on a dirty plate. We had a reservation for 1:30, and probably had about 45 minutes to an hour of time between the first appetizer dish being brought out and the second. After receiving the entree, we were quickly given dessert and told that there was “no rush but there is a wedding in an hour”.
I’d be willing to come back during a non restaurant week time in hopes that I could explore the whole menu but found it chaotic, messy, and poorly timed when they had an event in the afternoon!
Despite all this, the French toast was really delicious and the real star of the show!
