The Good: corner downtown location. Trivia offered. Friendly staff. Good sweet tea. (Husband liked the Dr. Robot draft beer)
The bad: bathroom door to women’s restroom propped open with 4 beer buckets catching leaks? One of the 2 inside bathroom doors wouldn’t lock. Spinach dips and cheese dips weren’t hot but chips were ok. Cheese sticks and poppers just average. Chicken tenders wouldn’t even finish one to eat (hard, colder and not a good taste).
Might go back for trivia and give something else a try but not impressed with the food. (Side note: if you like Pokémon Go, then you can easily reach 5 stops while sitting there.)
My Thousand Island Burger last night was excellent. Honestly, it was almost too big to fit in my mouth — I ended up eating it with a fork, and that’s not a complaint. The French fries are solid too — not just filler, but good quality and thoughtful.
And I can’t forget the appetizer: fried green tomatoes. Every time I come here, I have to order them. Crispy, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite parts of the meal.
Now, it is a bar, and normally that’s not my scene since I don’t drink much. But the atmosphere last night with the football game on was great — lively, fun, but not overbearing.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4 out of 5)
Creative burgers you can’t get anywhere else, great appetizers, and an atmosphere that makes it easy to keep coming back.
We went there tonight, my wife wanted a soup and salad, they said “they were out of lettuce”.
I ordered my usual Fish and Chips. Our food came out and my ” usual” was not usual anymore. The fish was half the size and my sides came in small Styrofoam containers with a plastic fork. It cost us about $40 for the food served in Styrofoam cups with plastic utensils. What has happened to our favorite spot on the square? If you’re going to cheap out on the service and even the utensils, please charge less. You have lost our weekly business and I have lost one of my favorite places to eat. Please do better.
The last time we went, the salad again had a bunch of brown lettuce. The bathroom was out of order and there was a disabled customer that rolled up in her wheelchair right next to us and proceeded to cough up phlegm throughout our meal. I felt bad for her, but not very appetizing, to say the least. We weren’t gonna go back for a while but decided to go tonight. We walked in, the hostess seated us and asked what we wanted to drink. We ordered two drinks and sat down. 10 minutes later, no drinks and no one to be found. We just left. Bummer, definitely not a good place anymore. We won’t be going back anytime soon.
The young people there are perfectly friendly, but they need help with the basic mechanics of running a restaurant.
Music blaring, 3 tables that needed to be cleared …waitress served our beverage…and THAT WAS IT.
We left a $5 bill for our tea to STILL seeing no employees. We left and I called the restaurant back and the girl answering the phone said the manager “was busy” …we’re asking Alfonso the owner to please get a handle on this favorite of ours
Very friendly server was welcoming and efficient. We love the overall vibe of this place. The bar appears to have an incredible selection of any libation you want.
We stayed true to the Irish theme and ordered the fish and chips and Shepard’s Pie.
You could tell they were fresh made, and the pie was made to order.
We camp at John Tanner Park, and will add Irish Bred to our rotation of local restaurants in Carrollton. You know what, you should too.
Highly recommended.
